Adoption Story: Part II. August 31, 2009 · Filed under Uncategorized. Click here to read. Adoption Story: Part I. I’ve written many times in the past about my ability to jump into things without really thinking first. It seems as though I’ve done it again. The problem is this: the story isn’t just mine, Travis’, and Arle’s to tell. It’s also the story of Arle’s precious birth family and they are so incredibly important to us. Yes…I said SIX weeks. From the moment I received “the phone cal...Yes, telling ...

Heavenly Pasta and The Best Angel Food Cake. Ever. June 22, 2009 · Filed under Recipes. Trav had a big weekend. His birthday was on Saturday and then, of course, Father’s Day was yesterday. He golfed Saturday morning and then he and I went to the Royals game that afternoon and had a great time (even though Trav’s precious Royals got the snot beat out of ’em). I made a big birthday dinner and it turned out pretty stinkin’ yummy, if I may say so myself. Once again, Pioneer Woman. Yeah, that one.”. Bake one...

November 14, 2011 · Filed under Uncategorized. When I moved to Kansas City seven and a half years ago, I had no friends here. We knew no one. I remember praying and praying and praying that the Lord would bless us with amazing friends. Man, did He ever come through on the answer for that one. A group of these fab friends decided to throw me a baby shower. A FABULOUS baby shower. So creative, so delicious, so fun, so EVERYTHING. Meet the hostesses (minus Rachel-we missed you, Rachel! SO SO SO precious....

Happy Mother’s Day. May 7, 2010 · Filed under adoption. Ever since Arle was born, Mother’s Day is a bit emotional for me. Not just because I’m now a mother myself, but because it always makes me think of Arle’s birth-mother and what this day must be like for her. I have seen how much she loves the daughter we share. I have seen the incredible sacrifice she made in the hospital the day she held our baby in her arms and referred to Travis and me as Daddy and Mommy. Happy Mother’s Day. Comments (14) ».

October 16, 2011 · Filed under Uncategorized. Evidently I have a blog that I seem to have forgotten about. Or lost. Or possibly ignored. I’ve been using the excuse that my laptop was broken. Again. But it’s been fixed for a week now and I’m just now blogging. I hijacked Trav’s laptop on a regular basis in order to do important things like surf Pinterest and such. Why didn’t I blog during those moments on the computer? Leftover scars from 6 1/2 years of infertility, I suppose. I’m dumb, I know. This is wh...

April 2, 2009 · Filed under Random. So…hypothetically speaking…what if someone offered you a free ticket to the Britney Spears concert tonight? And, just hypothetically, let’s say you accepted the offer, even though the last thing you’re familiar with Britney singing was from her days on the Disney channel? Just hypothetically, would you dash to the mall last night and scurry around to find a top to wear that will deceive everyone into thinking that you’re absolutely NOT 31? I would also be super excited...

Adoption Story: Part I. August 13, 2009 · Filed under adoption. Lately, I’ve felt led to share the story of how our sweet baby girl came into our lives. It’s my number one favorite story of all time and I would absolutely love it if, by telling it, I was able to encourage just one (or maybe more) of you readers out there. So, here goes…. I thought, “Oh well, I’m sure it will happen next month.”. Little did I know that this was the beginning of many, many, many months of frustration. Each month, I would g...
