In the Pilates Workshop Studio, we tailor classes to suit the individual, working with a range of Mat and resistance based exercises on specially designed Pilates equipment. We work with clients from all walks of life, whose requirements include individual rehabilitation sessions, demanding workouts for the exercise enthusiast and sports specific training. Based on the original Mat exercises devised by Joseph Pilates, the Mat class remains a popular and accessible introduction to the technique. In the Mat class we focus on;. Nuala trained and worked as a professional dancer before embarking on a long and varied career in teaching. Nuala taught Classical Ballet and Jazz Dance in the Bristol area for over 20 years and continues to run classes for students and adults at Bristol University and in Bishopston. After training in dance at the Laban Centre (BA Hons dance), Gaynor co-founded contemporary dance company The Cholmondeleys. Instructors in 2001. We co-founded the Pilates workshop. Pilates is named after Joseph Pilates who was born in 1880 in Germany. In order to rebuild his strength after many childhood illnesses, he devised his own method of exercise Contrology now better known as Pilates. Pilates is a specialised body conditioning technique that focuses on structural fitness. It utilizes the deep core muscles at the centre of the trunk which help protect and stabilize the spine.
