A pilgrim for life: November 2006

http://www.pilgrimforlife.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html

A pilgrim for life. Thursday, November 30, 2006. Out of the comfort zone. I told my ex boss that my new office has started to cc me in some of the e-mails. I even received one at 11pm last night. I got suspicious of the working hours. He chuckled and said I might as well return to the old company and have less hassle. I thank him for the suggestion and said, “I have gotten so used to you pushing me out of my comfort zone, that now I am pushing myself out of my own comfort zone.”. They are among those who...

A pilgrim for life. Thursday, September 21, 2006. Peace in Ramadhan: Animals know better. Why the heck do I put two threads on Ramadhan anyway? Well first, I forgot where I had put the text for this thread. Second, because I want to. Third, because this is my blog and I can do whatever I want with it). Enjoy a good Ramadhan. A peaceful one. Within. I can hear my cat Miauw laughing and saying "hah, I told you so. And you thought you were the higher being.". Holy month, humble wishes. To all who observe th...

A pilgrim for life: The umbrella boy

http://www.pilgrimforlife.blogspot.com/2006/12/umbrella-boy.html

A pilgrim for life. Saturday, December 09, 2006. I wanted to have lunch at the canteen at the back of my office building. It was raining. So I called one of those boys who rent out umbrellas for the pedestrians. He walked beside me in the rain. Of course, I chatted with him – cannot have a living being (note: not only human) standing beside me without me chatting with him/her. Do you know how many Indonesians have graduated from high school or higher? Data: Statistics Center Bureau, 2004. I pray that God...

A pilgrim for life: June 2006

http://www.pilgrimforlife.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html

A pilgrim for life. Monday, June 26, 2006. A message from the water. I went to a seminar on the true power of (hexagonal) water. The seminar discussed about the hexagonal water crystal based on the research of Doctor Masaru Emoto and how simple words or wishes can change the structure of water. Hexagonal is supposed to be the most useful or absorbable structure of water for human body. (Do forgive me if I make any technical mistakes). We are destroying our own selves. Vice versa, if we say good things.

A pilgrim for life: April 2006

http://www.pilgrimforlife.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html

A pilgrim for life. Friday, April 21, 2006. A typical special day of Indonesia to celebrate how far women have travelled or to remind us how far yet they need to travel - depending on our point of view. Kartini was an Indonesian woman who lived during the beginning of the twentieth century whose mindset was much more advanced than other women in those days. I personally voted for other women figures during those days but I do respect her for her thoughts. She smiles at him as he walks through the door.

Chipping in: Joe Jackson's Stepping out

http://chipping-in.blogspot.com/2008/09/joe-jacksons-stepping-out.html

Joe Jackson's Stepping out. The mist across the window hides the lines. But nothing hides the color of the lights that shine. Look and dry your eyes. So tired of all the darkness in our lives. With no more angry words to say. Get into a car and drive. To the other side. Me babe - stepping out. You babe - stepping out. Are young but getting old before our time. We’ll leave the TV and the radio behind. Don’t you wonder what we'll find. Can dress in pink and blue just like a child. If you follow me. Provide...

To Nepal and Tibet we go: April 2006

http://pilgrimnepaltibet.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html

To Nepal and Tibet we go. Wednesday, April 19, 2006. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. After a long pause, I am ready to post this. The lyrics from U2's I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. You can interpret it whichever way you want to. I have climbed the highest mountains. I have run through the fields. Only to be with you. Only to be with you. I have run, I have crawled. I have scaled these city walls. Only to be with you. But I still haven't found. What I'm looking for. Lhasa: where ...

Chipping in: Focusing within

http://chipping-in.blogspot.com/2008/09/focusing-within.html

I was in a group discussion one day, when a participant was telling us her story- how she wanted to help a person that came to her one day but could not because she had had prior engagement. She kept thinking how the woman must have felt and whether she had made the “right” decision by ignoring the plead. Another was telling us how he has forgiven the people who have hurt him. How we have to be patient. How we need to be forgiving and let go. To accept. To be humble. We have spent too much time denying w...

Chipping in: Stolen treasure

http://chipping-in.blogspot.com/2008/09/stolen-treasure.html

Al Ghazali said that sometimes God (or nature or whatever supreme power you believe in) would take away things that we treasure so much in our heart to provide us with life lessons. For us to learn to live without things we hold so dear to us and survive. For us to appreciate the treasure and use it (more) wisely. Only when we have learned our lessons, He will return them to us. Don't ever think differently. Posted by Eva.M. At 9/10/2008 03:33:00 pm. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A tribute to Rumi.

To Nepal and Tibet we go: October 2005

http://pilgrimnepaltibet.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html

To Nepal and Tibet we go. Sunday, October 30, 2005. Returning home, the first question I got from just about everybody was: so how was Nepal and Tibet? This got me thinking, yes, how was it? I cannot answer the question easily. But I cannot stop thinking. It is just the way I am. If there is one lesson to learn, it is the fact that I should be, and I am, thankful of what I have. For the body and how it managed to physically endure all the walking, load carrying, and changes of weather. I am surely thankf...

The Pilgrim forgets!

I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body, because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. ( 2 Peter 1:13-14. Review - Side by Side - by Edward Welch. God has given us each other. The church is the display of his glory and manifest wisdom on earth. We walk together. We live life together. This is how we are to be about the biblical mandate of living the "one-another" life. I'm grateful for this book and its author.

Walking 1,000 Miles For Peace. More About The Walk. August 16, 2007. 24 to go. Or that’s what I’ve been thinking lately, anyway. I was wearing Peace Pilgrim’s tunic for quite a while, and it does say, very clearly, “25,000 miles on foot for peace.”. I’m not sure how I will complete those 24,000 miles. They may be metaphorical miles or literal miles. I doubt I’ll ever be a peace pilgrim again, but you never know. Advice for Future Pilgrims. August 8, 2007.
