2nd Flight At Springbank. Today was my 2nd flight out of the Springbank airport with a new instructor in a new kind of Cessna (172 XP, with a constant speed prop). 160; We cruised in and out of Calgary airspace, constantly on the radio. About 10 feet off the runway, a huge gust of wind blew us 10 feet sideways - I was able to recover and land smoothly without the instructor helping. Ok, Alpha has nothing to do with anything, but it sounds cool. Here is my training regime plus the implied ground schooling that goes along with it. What I know is: the single most important thing to flying is decision-making. Good decisions lead to a long experience and the feeling of freedom. NO PLACE LIKE HOME. In Okotoks, the Air Ranch and the municipal airport is where I trained for my Private Pilots license. It's definitely advantageous to have other instructors do a little bit of your training, just to provide alternate perspectives. They may catch things or provide tips that are beneficial. As the saying goes: "A good pilot is always learning". Want to know more about the Okotoks airport? Or the training academy? Now in High River).

I used to think that flying could replace software development and "IT", but it's not that. Flying takes audacity and readiness, coding takes vigilance and patience.
