Quote of the day :). Those that never made a mistake, had never tried new things. Tuesday, March 30, 2010. How did the events of the Civil War affect individuals? One of the causes of the Civil War was the issue of states' rights, or the right for states to determine their own laws (but not violate federal laws). While secession was an extreme response to the issue of states' rights, are there any political issues today that could spark a strong response by the states to federal mandates.

A word from jonnybuster. Monday, April 19, 2010. It is better that a dozen slaves suffer under the lash, than that the overseer should be convicted, in the presence of the slaves, of having been at fault". Very well said, I agree. The masters have to take control and make sure they hold up their reputation. Even if they are the ones that made the mistake they punish their slaves. April 22, 2010 at 12:41 PM.
