So you want to get fit for rowing! How fit are you already? How much time have you got? The ergometer and charting progress. Every session should start with a warm-up, where you do some very light exercise and build up gradually to the speed that you want to get to during the session. Glasgow Rowing Club was formed on 4 December 1983 by the amalgamation of Glasgow Argonauts Boat Club (founded in 1924) and City of Glasgow Rowing Club (founded in 1965 – itself formed from The Glasgow Printers Rowing Club which was founded in the early 1900s). Glasgow City Council have done a survey of the Polmadie footbridge which is just upstream from the GRC clubhouse and have deemed it unsafe for pedestrians AND traffic passing beneath it. This means we can’t row under it until the restrictions have been removed! We will try to keep you informed of developments with the bridge and let you know as soon as the situation changes. Glasgow Rowing Club | Membership Fees

We offer a few sessions to see if you like it so don’t worry about having to pay a fortune to have a go. If you do find it is an enjoyable way to get fit (and we all do), then we will ask for membership fees. There are usually pro-rata discounts available if you start part way through the year but these are calculated by the committee and notified on application. The membership year runs from September to the following September at the clubs Annual General Meeting. The current fee structure is as follows:.

In January 1999 the â œRules and Guidelines for rowing on the River Clydeâ were drawn up and adopted by all the Rowing Clubs associated with the River Clyde above the Tidal Weir at Glasgow Green.
