This year we were saddened with the loss of Steve and Gillian Knight in a tragic accident in Alaska. Steve and Gillian were often at our events and were well known to many of our members Steve ran a very successful building company on the Gold Coast. My name is Rod Shearer. I’ve been a member of the APS since its inception way back when but haven’t. Made much of a contribution to date.Recently the position of Tech Adviser became vacant and I’m pleased to be. Able to help in this capacity. My wife and I have owned a Cherokee 140 (RVK) since ’93 and have a Hangar and airstrip at our small farm near. Bendigo. Somewhere along the way flying dropped off to such an extent that the old Cherokee has been on. Townsville mainly on Iroquois, Squirrel and Caribou.

Relief for Jab Engine Operators. It's been over 18 months since CASA released it's Instrument limiting the operation of aircraft powered by Jabiru engines, as a knee-jerk reaction to reported engine "incidents". The original Instrument of December 2014 was renewed in July 2015 for a 12 month period. To it's credit, CASA conducted in-depth studies of various reports, and worked closely with the manufacturer, to determine just what the issues were, and which engines were affected.
