Monday, March 14, 2011. Veit nam for the third time 27/2/2010. Arrived back into Hanoi again and checked into the majestic hotel where we have stayed before because of the location and the friendliest staff,it was a lot cooler and a bit drizzly,the first thing we had to do was hire a bigger bike for a week for the ride up to Sapa. Camped for two nights,1st night was 1.7 deg,second night was .5 deg,bloody cold,after first night we went into town and bought two hot water bottles,which made the second night more bearable. both nights we had a roarin' fire which was great until you moved away from it! Saturday, March 7, 2009. 2nd tour of duty! Vietnam and Lao Part 1. After arriving from k.l. to Hanoi,Vietnam on the 7/2/2009the first mission was to hire some motorbike's,we tracked down a cheap place to hire,six dollars a day so we hired two bikes for two days.The 2nd tour of duty was a lot easier with the traffic,it was'nt so daunting and we launched straight into it! Friday, January 2, 2009. Melting roads and burnt feet! Loaded up the trusty iron horse for a three day camping trip. Tuesday, July 20, 2010. Peel Island Leper Colony. The leper colony was opened in 1907 and closed in 1959 it was also used for the Inebriates (alcoholics). There were a total of 85 inmates being made up of white male and females,male and female aborigines and some Chinese. There were also five children on the island the youngest being only seven.
