是一種原產自泰國和緬甸的可愛中小型單莖蘭花，本種在原產地泰國相當常見又便宜，很容易就看見一大組在曼谷的花市出售，但這在本地和大陸並不是很便宜的蘭花。 棒葉指甲蘭. 的花朵直徑大約一公分多點點，帶點清新的檸檬香，紫紅得像一團丁香花束。像以下拍攝的就是兩大棵拼起來充撐場面的成果，當中一棵是友人的（但兩棵都不算小，現在很少看到那麼大的出售吧，可惜我還有另一大板 棒葉指甲蘭. 只開了一串花.）。所以看起來算蠻壯觀吧！ 在當年1864年被著名蘭學家 Reichenbach 先生發表時是以 Aerides mitratum. 為拉丁文的陰性屬格）來命名的。但後來因為半棒狀葉這個特殊的明顯特徵在指甲蘭屬中實在絕無僅有，唇瓣的構造型態又和大部分指甲蘭有點分別，所以1972年另一位蘭科分類學家 Seidenfaden 先生將 棒葉指甲蘭. 在原產地泰國那種熱帶季風地區非常好栽培，冬季不會太冷，夏季也不會熱得太過分。但往北上一點的地區，若冬季的氣溫會跌至零度時就需注意保溫了。筆者的 棒葉指甲蘭. 在氣溫下跌至攝氏5 6度時始見凍傷痕跡，但一般來說是蠻好養的。栽培 棒葉指甲蘭.
