Down the Byline: Soccer Capital of America?
http://www.downthebyline.com/2013/07/soccer-capital-of-america.html
Monday, July 29, 2013. Soccer Capital of America? Nickname. Even St. Louis could make a claim as the capital. Although they don't have a team now, St. Louis was the center of US soccer for a while and was " America's first soccer capital. But while they've done well to sell out games with big name European teams, the lack of a professional outdoor team in the city hurts any claim it has to the title now. So is Kansas City the "Soccer Capital of America"? This week ahead of the game. Labels: all star game.

Down the Byline: Roger Espinoza's No Good Very Bad Week
http://www.downthebyline.com/2015/08/roger-espinozas-no-good-very-bad-week.html
Thursday, August 06, 2015. Roger Espinoza's No Good Very Bad Week. It's not been a good week for Sporting KC's Roger Espinoza. First came his one game suspension by the disciplinary committee for his challenge on Tyler Deric in this past Saturday's game against the Houston Dynamo. The injury will keep Espinoza out for 10 weeks, which would put him returning in mid-October, right near the end of the regular season, he'll miss at least 12 games. According to Espinoza though. For Espinoza's punch on Brad Da...

Khari Stephenson was a major part of San Jose's team last year in MLS play, this year not so much, as the Jamaican has appeared in just four games this season for the Earthquakes. With that having happened, Stephenson is headed out on loan for the rest of the season to NASL side, San Antonio. Here is the rest of this week's update. Active without a club or unknown. Columbus - Started and played 90 minutes in Columbu...

One of the great case studies of players' rights in MLS has finally reached a conclusion. Today, Sporting KC and Toronto FC announced that they'd reached a trade yesterday before the window closed that saw Kansas City send the rights of first refusal of Herculez Gomez to Toronto FC for allocation money. Down the Byline: Silly Season Rumors
http://www.downthebyline.com/2015/07/silly-season-rumors.html
Friday, July 31, 2015. First reports out of Portugal. Quintilla is listed as an attacking midfielder, but I'd guess that he'd also get time on the wing, or at least tried out there. Probably similar to how Toni Dovale last year got time at both attacking midfield and on the wing. With no reinforcements no silverware again this year. Down the Byline: Referee the Talking Point in KC Draw with Houston

Sunday, August 02, 2015. Referee the Talking Point in KC Draw with Houston. But after the game, once the KC pool reporter was able to ask his three questions and one follow up, Gonzalez said that the handling was not deliberate, and his arm was judged to have been in a natural playing position. Wizards Man of the Match - Benny Feilhaber. Continues to be the difference maker that KC needs. A great free kick set up the goal and could have had another assist or two with some better finishing. Down the Byline: Match Day 20: A Busy Month Starts
http://www.downthebyline.com/2015/07/match-day-20-busy-month-starts.html
Friday, July 31, 2015. Match Day 20: A Busy Month Starts. Myers - Ellis - Besler - Dia. Zusi - Dwyer - Nemeth. Key Match Up - Soni Mustivar vs Giles Barnes. Barnes has returned from national team duty and will likely slot in with Bruin as a forward or right behind him. If he's lined up behind Bruin, Mustivar will be tasked with keeping an eye on Barnes throughout the game. This will be key because as Barnes showed in the Gold Cup, giving him a free kick around the box is very dangerous. SKC - 1 (Dwyer).

Down the Byline: #TBT KC All Star MVP Performance
http://www.downthebyline.com/2015/07/tbt-kc-all-star-mvp-performance.html
Thursday, July 30, 2015. TBT KC All Star MVP Performance. With the all star game on Wednesday this past week, I thought I'd take a look at the last time a Kansas City player scored in the all star game and the only time a KC player has been named the all star game MVP. In 1999, KC was suffering through their worst season in club history, but KC still had two players named to the all star team for the Western Conference as Alexi Lalas and Preki were named to the team in San Diego. Down the Byline: Sporting Add Quintilla as Window Closes
http://www.downthebyline.com/2015/08/sporting-add-quintilla-as-window-closes.html
Thursday, August 06, 2015. Sporting Add Quintilla as Window Closes. The secondary window for MLS clubs has officially closed, so unless paper work was already in process, no more players that are currently under contract will be coming to an MLS club. This year that now includes players traded within MLS. The only way for clubs to sign players now is if they were out of contract at the time the transfer window closed. What happened to Danny Barrow? He seemed pretty certain he was getting signed? Id be in...
