Friday, July 11, 2003. Sometimes reading autism news reports just makes me angry. For instance, when I read about a school bus driver who just forgets about a four year old autistic child and leaves the child alone in a school bus for five hours in 90 degree heat, anger starts to build inside me. Newsday has the report. A 4-year-old boy with autism was left on a school bus for five hours in Monday's 90-degree heat, and the bus driver has been charged with child neglect, authorities said. Next, I read abo...

It's Still The Economy, Stupid. Wednesday, November 03, 2004. In Oregon, my soon to be residence, Cobb got 4,524 of one and a half million votes. Teresa Keane, the effective Green Party candidate (it does not appear Oregon recognizes the Party on the general ballot), outpolled Cobb 9-1 and got 2% of the popular vote. Greens had a harder time in state legislature races, with all three candidates pulling 1% or less of the vote. November 3, 2004. Only about a third of what Nader got in 2000. As far as the b...

It's Still The Economy, Stupid. Friday, July 16, 2004. Retail Sales and Inflation. Retail sales declined 1.1% in June. Reversing a revised (downward) 1.4% gain in May. The trend of retail sales growth is downward, which started well before any effect of the Fed's recent interest rate hike. The LA times attributed the decline to energy costs. Consumer prices rose 0.3% in June. I don't fill up my gas tank with Pentium IVs). Tuesday, July 13, 2004. I'm sick of this and I'm sick of you. My crappy basic cover...

We do stupid things. Tuesday, August 19, 2003. If we let this. Para; 8/19/2003 12:57:00 PM. Wednesday, August 13, 2003. It starting to look like one of the most monumentally stupid things the done recently has been the push towards privatization of support services for the military. It seems that when the bullets start flying, the private contractors are no where to be found. You can order a soldier into battle and court-martial him if he refuses, but a civilian can just up and quit, or not show up at all.
