Saturday, February 27, 2010. I have a set of plaid chopsticks I bought at my local Korean market. I love the simplicity of chopsticks and the plaid appeals to my sense of hipster irony, however to me they represent something beyond their basic form and function. Plaid chopsticks are a symbol of the rich tradition of California Cuisine in which I am steeped, taking two parts of different cultures and combining them into something awesome. I am currently sitting in a cafe awaiting my friend Brandon to gather his stuff and we will meet at a friends house before departing on our 40 hours train ride to Kunming, Yunnan Province. We arrive there 9am Sunday morning and get to hang out for a day and a half before taking another 8 hour train to Lijiang. Oh well, we had Indian instead.

First we had to bike about 15 minutes south of our village. After locking up our bikes by a construction site we set through this tunnel into the wilderness. From the lower peak, a view of our home Lashi Lake. Looking out toward Lashihai. At the top of Wenbi Mountain is this Buddhist shrine. The peak is about 11,400 feet.
