Random musings from a guy who's old enough to know better! Monday, December 26, 2005. Cathy and I slept late (why do people say "slept in"? And had scrambled eggs and a bagel for breakfast. I fried some chopped onion and some smoked salmon that my NJ sons had given me for Christmas as extgra treats. We then opened our presents to each other. I surprised her with a coffee mug with this picture on it:. And she surprised me with a great book about the CIA! Cathy made some filets mignon. Interestingly, the p...

Random musings from a guy who's old enough to know better! Sunday, February 26, 2006. It's been a while, hasn't it? It's been more than a month since I last wrote. Probably seasonally-affected disorder! A bunch of medical tests - it's that time of year - and a month of wasted effort on a support site for OpenOffice have left me at best blah. But next weekend we travel North to see Sara so that should boost my spirits. I'm also upset with the goings on in Washington. Is there no limit? A Geek in Beantown.

Random musings from a guy who's old enough to know better! Saturday, January 21, 2006. Never get tired of seeing this kid! These are from our January 6-9 visit. Posted by Pete Holsberg @ 12:49 PM. Wednesday, January 04, 2006. It's a New Year! Very quiet New Year's Eve. We went to Steve and Phyliss's place in the Poconos and watched a 4-inch snowfall in the afternoon. Then we went to dinner and just barely made it to midnight! Posted by Pete Holsberg @ 11:24 AM. Columbus, New Jersey, United States.

Random musings from a guy who's old enough to know better! Sunday, November 27, 2005. What a wonderful weekend! My son, our daughter-in-law and our GRANDDAUGHTER spent the first half of the weekend with his mother, and came to us late Friday afternoon. We hadn't seen Sara in about 6 months (she's 2-1/2) but she knew us immediately! She's amazing and adorable. Wow, does it take a lot of energy to keep up with a toddler! Cathy and I are both ready for naps at 1PM on Sunday! Posted by Pete Holsberg @ 1:23 PM.

Random musings from a guy who's old enough to know better! Sunday, February 27, 2005. What's with the green car? In case you're wondering about the green car in my profile, well, that's a happy tale! It's a Skip Barber "Formula V" single-seat open-wheel race car and that's yours truly behind the wheel. (You thought it was Michael Schumacher, maybe? But it was great fun while it lasted! For the curious, there's more - MUCH more - on my website. Posted by Pete Holsberg @ 8:18 PM. View my complete profile.

Random musings from a guy who's old enough to know better! Friday, September 30, 2005. Cathy and I were supposed to go to Boston this weekend to visit Lisa, Alan and Alisa, and Sara, but she's suffering from asthma! And inhaling with a nebulizer. You can tell she's sick because she stayed home four of the five days of this work week! Posted by Pete Holsberg @ 2:51 PM. Tuesday, September 27, 2005. Nothing but the tooth. Had a tooth extracted today. First one in I don't know how many years! The anesthesia ...

Random musings from a guy who's old enough to know better! Friday, January 23, 2009. Now that the election is over, I'm finding who I am. :-). I am a left social moderate. Left: 4.36, Libertarian: 0.37. On the left side are pacifists and anti-war activists. On the right side are those who want a strong military that intervenes around the world. I scored: -0.85. My Foreign Policy Views. Where are you in the culture war? On the liberal side, or the conservative side? Posted by Pete Holsberg @ 8:32 PM.

Random musings from a guy who's old enough to know better! Tuesday, June 28, 2005. My wife is the best person in the world! She has a heart of gold and good sense to go with it. If everyone were as kind, yet strong as she is, what a lovely world we'd live in. These are people who, as they say, you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley! I couldn't do her job for more than a day. So on a daily basis, she juggles the needs of every conceivable range of personality and never loses her cool. What a woman!

Random musings from a guy who's old enough to know better! Sunday, August 28, 2005. Happy Birthday, Lisa! Happy birthday, Lisa! And many happy returns, too! On a less joyful note, Cathy had an anaphylactic reaction to a peach the other night. She fears that she's becoming more food-allergic as she gets older. She's had reactions to grapes, watermelon and even celery, and has become lactose-intolerant which is a little ironic as she's about themost tolerant person I know. Posted by Pete Holsberg @ 1:43 PM.

Random musings from a guy who's old enough to know better! Saturday, July 30, 2005. Got DSL running today. Seems quite zippy, and the speed test sites I tried showed the speeds to be comparable to Comcast's. Of course, the installation hung so I ended up calling Verizon's DSL tech support number, a non-human system that purports to respond to voiced phrases. First I checked to see if indeed the DSL stuff had been activated ("Order status") and got a "You're in luck! Posted by Pete Holsberg @ 11:47 PM.
