The great love affair…. Tillandsia seleriana x Tillandsia ionantha. It seems strange that I always mention a preference for species, yet I find my collection of hybrids increasing ever oh so slowly. Well here is another hybrid that I … Continue reading →. April 25, 2013 · 7 Comments. The great love affair…. Well, I managed to get my hands on two of these guys back in May 2012, and surprise surprise but they were both in bloom. One of the plants could almost be considered a small clump, as it had a number of very small pups at the base of the plant – this. Almost clump shall from hereon out be referred to as. And it is the plant on the left in the pic below. Unfortunately though, most of the tiny little pups on. And yes you guessed it, it is the plant on the right in the pic below.

The great love affair…. A place for me to share my love affair with tillandsias (aka ‘air plants’). I first found out about these plants more than 20 years ago but have only recently restarted this hobby (recently being January 2012). I hope you enjoy the pictures, and remember the information I share is based on growing in my location, which is Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 12 comments on “ About. May 17, 2013. May 19, 2013. The great love affair…. Tillandsia seleriana x Tillandsia ionantha (update). I initially wrote a post about this hybrid plant back in April, and you can find the post here. Here are some pics to show the development over the three months since my original post. Looking at the pics now I must say there definitely was growth, albeit at the typically leisurely Tillandsia-like pace! If you read my previous post about T. Houston. None of which seemed to be any worse for wear. September 11, 2013. My husband an...

The great love affair…. This will be a short post, since I am actually hoping to get everyone’s help on the ID of this plant. I bought it as Tillandsia sphaerocephala, which when I received the plant, it became obvious it was most definitely not that. In case you were wondering what T. sphaerocephala looks like, a picture of a subsequent plant I managed to buy is below. Anyway the most recent pics are below. What do you guys think? 6 comments on “ Tillandsia NoID #2. May 1, 2013. May 2, 2013. May 2, 2013.

The great love affair…. Tillandsia Houston (stricta x recurvifolia). T stricta is one of the most wide ranging species of tillandsia, and as a result there are very many variations. You can read more about it and my lack of love for T. stricta as a whole in my earlier post. Pictures from my collection of both parent species are included below for your viewing pleasure. The great love affair…. Tillandsia Houston Cotton Candy (stricta x recurvifolia). As promised to a reader, Jonathan, I am putting up a short post on Tillandsia Houston Cotton Candy. This is a cultivar of Tillandsia Houston (my original post on this hybrid can be found here. If not, it was likely just a fluke which caused the initial quirk to manifest and that is the end of that. In fact the most significant difference between the two is that the so-called T. Cotton Candy is not a good pupper. Des...Well ...
