This post contains affiliate links at no cost to you. Juicing Oranges: From Start To Finish. July 28, 2015. Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links (at no cost to you). I love how Montessori sets up a child for success and independence. Working in the kitchen brings such joy to their spirits and when their spirits are fulfilled, they are able to give freely. Today, I’d like to share a video with you — Z (3 years 3 months old) preparing orange juice all by himself, from start to finish. Norpro Mult...
Art Cards
http://plantingpeas.com/kids-activities/art
This post contains affiliate links at no cost to you. January 25, 2016. Yesterday morning, I woke up to a mess of art cards on our mindful learning nook. Once again. Does this make me upset? I am thrilled that these art cards are engaging my 3.5 and 9 year old — the mess is evidence of that. They are exploring these art cards. On their own in addition to the conversations that we have together each week. However, I am pleased with the variety of art that is shown on these art cards. Learn and Play Link Up.
DIY Bead Sequencing Set

This post contains affiliate links at no cost to you. DIY Bead Sequencing Set. January 9, 2015. I’ve always wanted the Melissa and Doug Bead Sequencing Set. But just didn’t want to fork out the money for it. Plus I’m always looking for ways to repurpose what we already have on hand because at the rate that Z (2.5) gets bored of things, I’ll be broke before we reach Grade One! I sawed off one side of the rack so that the dowels would be exposed. Lay it on the side, and voila it’s a dowel board! The pictur...
Easter Activities
http://plantingpeas.com/kids-activities/easter
This post contains affiliate links at no cost to you. April 5, 2015. Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links (at no cost to you). I introduced Z (3 years old) to a book that Grandma bought us, First Facts Seasons. We are learning about seasons, and one of the pages has Spring celebrations. So I decided to do some ad-hoc Easter activities with him. Easter activities – Oval tape resist art. I drew too many ovals for a 3-year old and had to help him paint those ovals after a while. The geometry cabin...

Watch Your Toes: Independent Toddlers - Child Led Life
http://childledlife.com/independent-toddlers
Watch Your Toes: Independent Toddlers. Watch Your Toes: Independent Toddlers. March 10, 2015. One of my favorite aspects of the Montessori method is the freedom it gives children. Freedom to struggle and freedom to learn. Toddlers are not going to be perfect at everything the first time, but creating an environment for independent toddlers is a wonderful gift you can give your child. Stools are a wonderful tool for children to work in the prepared home environment. Our stool. Is made of plastic, but is e...

DIY Corporate Mom: December 2014
http://www.diycorporatemom.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 23 December 2014. How I Get In The Picture Now. Every year I make a video compilation for my daughter's birthday. It's a great, cheap way to look back and tell a story of the year that was. The problem is I'm hardly ever in the story. Nowadays I'm behind the camera. Being a mom. My husband, however, could win Father of the Year thanks to my thoughtful art direction. But no longer! Last Sunday we went to the Christmas Light Show at the Ayala Triangle and took this:. My new favourite mom gadget.
DIY Corporate Mom: Dice Addition Game with Number Sticks
http://www.diycorporatemom.com/2015/07/dice-addition-math-game-with-number.html
Thursday, 30 July 2015. Dice Addition Game with Number Sticks. If you've got a preschooler learning number bonds, this game is super easy to like. And if you're a busy mama, this game is super easy to DIY even if you don't have number sticks! This idea is a DIY-version of another DIY-version. See this video. We used stuff we had around. A piece of cloth, our number magnets, a pair of dice and 2 sets of stickers. I always say it's easy to think of play when you've got stuff around! I slipped in some numbe...
DIY Corporate Mom: Starting Play Early: DIY A Crawl Playground
http://www.diycorporatemom.com/2012/11/starting-play-early-diy-crawl-playground.html
Tuesday, 27 November 2012. Starting Play Early: DIY A Crawl Playground. When Ladybug (Baby) Girl was beginning to turn over, I thought it would make it more encouraging if her surroundings were like a crawl playground to explore. I'm not sure crawl playgrounds do exist - they seem to be missing from baby books. Friendly Manila, I didn't even have a lot of choices in baby gates! It's laughable how improvised her crawl playground was. I read that having two different crawl surfaces developed muscles better.
DIY Corporate Mom: When I Pick Her Up From School
http://www.diycorporatemom.com/2015/07/when-i-pick-her-up-from-school.html
Friday, 3 July 2015. When I Pick Her Up From School. Of all the bittersweet moments of being a working mom,. Those rare days of picking up my daughter from school are classic. Her shriek of happiness and the look of joy that lights up her face make me feel like a winner. I'm the best mom in that moment. It also makes me feel like a loser. I'm the absent mom for the school days before that one. On a rare day, straight from work and on leave for the afternoon. And maybe more importantly, so does she. When ...
DIY Corporate Mom: Koinoburi in the Playroom
http://www.diycorporatemom.com/2015/07/koinoburi-in-playroom.html
Saturday, 11 July 2015. Koinoburi in the Playroom. The Japanese have a national holiday "Children's Day" in blessing and hope for a good future that is healthy and well. I think this tradition honouring children is lovely. A carp flag, is hung in households during this day. I bought this sweet version:. And hella expensive. So I only bought one. If I follow tradition, I'm supposed to get a dad, a mom and a baby one in gradually smaller sizes like this:. Here's the baby koi in her bedroom now:. Outdoor Sa...
DIY Corporate Mom: Starting Math with Number Sticks
http://www.diycorporatemom.com/p/number-sticks-math-rods-cuisenaire-rods.html
Starting Math with Number Sticks. Confession: I handle billion-peso brands but I am a math-hater. I've learned to live with profit-and-loss statements (more accurately, my bosses have learned to live with me). But nothing makes me more jittery than a discussion on targets, forecasts and net profits. But what I dread the most nowadays? Parenting a child through the world of math. Now I'm embarrassingly in love with them. Race To A Hundred. Grab The Stick Game. Feel free to comment, with good intent!
