Destructive Interference: The Hurt Locker
http://fordlikethecar.blogspot.com/2009/09/hurt-locker.html
Attempting to offset noise with conversation. Saturday, September 05, 2009. The Hurt Locker is topping critics' lists this year, and it is a good film, to be sure. It had inspired me to write a rather long-winded and self-important essay concerning the problem with wars like the one in Iraq, but, as is usually the case, a bit of research quelled my zealous aims (maybe sleeping on it helped too), so I'll just write a review instead. 8221; “Ishmi! Taking these criticisms into consideration, is The Hurt Loc...

Destructive Interference: Directorial Debut!
http://fordlikethecar.blogspot.com/2010/06/directorial-debut.html
Attempting to offset noise with conversation. Friday, June 04, 2010. I made Checklist a few years back and submitted it to South By Southwest, but did not make the cut, so it's been sitting on the shelf ever since. When I found out that Bay Arts Alliance was going to be hosting a short film series, I thought I might as well give it a shot. So, my film finally gets to have its premiere! Here's a little summary of the film:. Written, Directed and Edited by Ford Seeuws. Cinematography by Jim Stanek. Incompe...

Attempting to offset noise with conversation. Monday, August 18, 2008. Playing off Political Fear. I’ve been reading Edward Larson’s book A Magnificent Catastrophe. Which chronicles the strange, but almost all-too-familiar events that transpired during our country’s first presidential campaign. The main contenders were John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. Having conceded that, however, do we find that once Jefferson took office the nation went to hell in a hand basket? Did Americans suffer under tyranny?

Attempting to offset noise with conversation. Monday, February 25, 2008. I was published last week in our local paper for the first time. The following essay made it in the opinion page of Thursday's News Herald. If you've read my other blog on intelligent design, there's some definite overlap, but I'd like to hear your thoughts. The bulk of this piece will focus on the other side of the debate, however. I've read and heard many pleas for scientific rigor in the science classroom. Nonetheless, I ...Becau...

Attempting to offset noise with conversation. Monday, November 03, 2008. My Vote Goes To. I'm tired of these two parties. I have refused to vote for either being that I am quite disgusted by all the bloated rhetoric pouring from the true believers on both sides. I don't want to be pigeon-holed into being a true believer for one side or the other. But just last week I was introduced to Jonathan Allen, a self-described "Non-Partisan Independent.". Except that the ownership, inheritance, disposition and pos...

Destructive Interference: Ginsburg and Eugenics?
http://fordlikethecar.blogspot.com/2009/07/ginsburg-and-eugenics.html
Attempting to offset noise with conversation. Thursday, July 16, 2009. You may not be a fan of Jonah Goldberg, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on his argument here. This point is one that is often overlooked or hush-hushed by the pro-choice camp, and I think it really needs to be addressed. Sanger was no stranger to tying birth control to eugenics, and that is a serious ethical issue that should not be taken lightly. Goldberg's article can be found here: Ruth Bader Ginsburg and a Question of Eugenics.
