February 23, 2012. I’ve been reading a lot lately about how great water beads are for the sensory and light tables and how much kids. So, I wanted to give them a try in my classroom. They sure looked awesome on all the blogs I saw them on and I knew my kids would love them! So, after reading that people were able to find them at the Dollar Tree (what teacher doesn’t love the dollar store? I went to find some! It was love at first touch! They love just running their hands through them and exploring the te...

anything you want | Teaching to Dream

February 7, 2012. Some of our creations displayed with easel paintings. I’ve been sick for almost 2 weeks now…but I feel almost human again! My kids weren’t sure what to do…which is normal…and somewhat amusing. “What do you want me to do? 8221; “What should I make? 8221; “What can I use? 8221; And so on. My answer is always the same, “Anything you want.” And with that, they’re off. Filed under school happenings. I had no idea growing up I would be teaching pre-k today! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. March 11, 2012. I was sitting in class one day last week taking some notes when one of my little girls said, “Ms. Elliot, are you a princess? I smiled, “No, sweetheart, I’m not.” I looked up at her. She frowned and seemed a little deflated. 8220;Oh.” she said. Then added quickly, “Why aren’t you a princess? 8220;Why am I not a princess? 8221; I smiled. She clapped her hands together and smiled. “Oh wow, cool! 8221; And then ran off to play with her friends. Filed under school happenings. I always tell my...

Here is a list of people I talk about…I will update as necessary! Ms Lezze-Faire: Our directer, who happens to be in denial about a lot of things. Ms Elliot: That would be me…but it’s not my real name. Ms Bennet: This is my wonderful co-teacher…not her real name. Kitten: a little girl in my class. She is my smallest one (not youngest) but has the spunk and attitude of a little kitten! George: My newest, very curious – just like the monkey! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

surprises | Teaching to Dream
https://deepbluetide.wordpress.com/2012/02/13/surprises
February 13, 2012. I enjoy sitting back and watching what my kids do. I think that’s one of the great things about teaching. When things are going smoothly and no one need help, we can have a few minutes to sit back and watch. To see what they’ll do next. And many times, we can be surprised by the way these little people think and act. Then suddenly they all got the idea to lay down and look at the clouds. At first the comments were, “Look how fluffy they are! 8221; and “Wow, those are big! I am a pre-ki...

I am a pre-kindergarten teacher at a private christian school. I work mornings with 4 year olds (most of whom enter my class in July still being 3 - they're babies! And then in the afternoon work "daycare" - which is basically my own class combined with 5 year old children. One things for sure - it's never dull! I had no idea growing up I would be teaching pre-k today! It took me totally off guard - but in the end I wouldn't change a thing! March 11, 2012. 8220;Why am I not a princess? 8221; I smiled.
