Playing with fi(b)re: December 2014

http://playingwithfibre.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 26, 2014. Like an awful lot of knitters, I spent December in a flurry of knitting gifts and a Christmas outfit for the small human. Now that Christmas deadlines are over, I feel like I have time to relax, and share some of the projects. Pattern: Mukluks by Tin Can Knits. Yarn: Rico Essentials Soft Merino Aran in beige and purple. When I first put these on the small human's feet, she ran around exclaiming 'Warm! So I think that means she likes them! Pattern: Grand Canal by Yvonne McSwiney.

Playing with fi(b)re: Toddler hairbands

http://playingwithfibre.blogspot.com/2015/06/toddler-hairbands.html

Tuesday, June 16, 2015. The Small Human is of an age where she enjoys dressing up just a little. I've been making some hairbands for her using scraps of yarn, which as an added bonus also gives me the kick of near-instant gratification! The first band features a crocheted flower with leaves. The flowers were made in the same way as those featured in this previous blog post. Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Awesome Inc. template. Powered by Blogger.

Playing with fi(b)re: January 2015

http://playingwithfibre.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 19, 2015. I've lost the run of myself in the last week or two, casting on All. The. Things. There have been quite a few baby hats (two beautiful babies were born to friends in the last month). Most of the hats have involved lots of stocking stitch; great for knitting along to subtitled tv programmes. And if there is an opportunity to add a pom-pom, all the better! Doodie by Woolly Wormhead. In Debbie Bliss Rialto. In the largest size. Doodie by Woolly Wormhead. Also in Debbie Bliss Rialto.

Playing with fi(b)re: Finished knits

http://playingwithfibre.blogspot.com/2015/07/finished-knits.html

Thursday, July 2, 2015. Over the last number of weeks I have been lashing through some simple baby and kid sized knits. Sometimes, miles upon miles of stocking stitch can be very good for the soul. First up, Bella by Dani Sunshine. Knit in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino in Clotted Cream, with some light purple leftovers. This is the second time I have knit this sweet pattern, though I hadn't realised how many ends would result from using the contrast colour! I am ashamed to say that the mittens were originally ...

Thread Bear's Picnic - www.aoibheni.com: April 2011

http://thread-bear.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Thread Bear's Picnic - www.aoibheni.com. Is that a goose in your pen, or are you just quacky to see me? Yesterday was a day as idylic as they get for me. My Mam came out and helped a bit, and my cousin dropped in to say Hi to her Dad, who was helping my Dad put a stairs into the shed's loft, and she helped a bit with the weeding, too. I know, sometimes, it really feels like we're Amish or something! Introducing Dave, Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Titch:. A small bath to splash in:. And a Mom, Nell, to look ...

http://thread-bear.blogspot.com/2011/10/life-of-testing.html

Thread Bear's Picnic - www.aoibheni.com. A life of testing. Appears to be ahead of me as a designer, but as frustrating as it can be at times, it is clearly the better choice for me. It seems to me that this shouldn't be too difficult to do on the surface, but, as many before me have undoubtedly found, a good editor (especially in crochet) is as hard to find as hen's teeth. Now, naturally, there's a lot more work for me to do; I'm not just flinging text at a bunch of people and expecting them to "fix" it...

Thread Bear's Picnic - www.aoibheni.com. It's been a while, but I reckon it's never too late to get back on the horse, right? I had a great time last week, teaching a 1/2-day workshop in This Is Knit. In the Powerscourt Centre, Dublin. Me with my teaching face on. Shawl pattern, we learnt how to work linked-stitches, the different increases I use and when they're best implemented, and all the fancy lace techniques I use in Pax. Towards the end of the class, we got into the nitty-gritty. 24 May, 2012 10:37.

Thread Bear's Picnic - www.aoibheni.com: March 2011

http://thread-bear.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Thread Bear's Picnic - www.aoibheni.com. A week or two ago, the world seemed to slow down for a few moments as word went around the small crafting community in Dublin that one of our good friend's husbands had been diagnosed with a serious illness. He was to be in and out of hospital for the foreseeable future, fighting a formidable disease. I put out the call (in secret, of course! And was soon being inundated by blooms. There were tiny knit ones, big crochet ones, leaves, stems, roses, daffodils, c...

Thread Bear's Picnic - www.aoibheni.com. Announcing; AoibheNi.com. Well, haven't I been a bit quiet lately! Yes, yes, I have. But it has been with good reason, 'because I have managed, through no small effort, to design, code and launch a spangly new website. I'm delighted with how it has turned out. Watch as it spangles! It took a lot of work, a lot of coffee, and a lot of ignoring my poor blog, but I think it was worth it! I hope you think so too. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). FO from ages ago.
