My Journey with Rough & Tumble Play – Playing With Sticks

http://playingwithsticks.ca/my-journey-with-rough-tumble-play

Benefits of Nature Play. My Journey with Rough & Tumble Play. April 9, 2013. June 9, 2013. To my knowledge nobody has ever told me to stop children from engaging in this form of play. Nor had we discussed the nature of play fighting in my teacher education program. Far from it, as rough and tumble play never came up in any lectures or discussions. So why did I innately see it as inappropriate? Had somebody stopped me from playing this way when I was a young child? Someone will get hurt! 8221; are used.

This Land, My People, My Identity – Playing With Sticks

http://playingwithsticks.ca/this-land-my-people-my-identity

Benefits of Nature Play. This Land, My People, My Identity. November 13, 2013. November 13, 2013. I was raised to believe that everything happens for a reason, that I am not given anything in life that I can’t handle, and that everything I face in life can teach me an important lesson (if I let it). As a result, I believe that we are. But often parents don’t focus on the great academic work that we do and focus on the fact that I “let the children play” or “let them run around in ...Quickly developing ap...

Benefits of Nature Play. Dear Parents & Guardians. June 15, 2014. February 9, 2016. Dear Parents and Guardians,. I am sorry that it was suddenly “maybe” the last day of school and I am sorry that I didn’t get a chance to say a proper goodbye to your child, my students. Please let me take the time now to tell you about our year together, about how much we have learned side by side, about how much laughter we have shared, and about how much joy we have experienced learning together as a community. Play & Self-Regulation – Playing With Sticks

http://playingwithsticks.ca/play-self-regulation

Benefits of Nature Play. Play & Self-Regulation. January 31, 2014. January 31, 2014. Self-regulation, a buzz word in education, has received a lot of attention as educators notice the increasing inability for students to regulate their emotions in a variety of situations. Self-regulation is defined as the ability to monitor, evaluate, and modify one’s emotions to suit the activity; understand and engage positively in social situations; and demonstrate empathy towards others (Shanker, 2013, p. x). A very ...

Well we'll see what happens next. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. This beautiful project has gone on and on. I started it in 2005 as a baby quilt for my first born. but time got away from me and I set it aside, working at it here. Over the past decade, trying to find a way for it to fit into my life. My vision for this quilt had always been complex; limited color palette, no same fabrics touching but with an intentional, subtle sense of order. This is my vision. I love the hand pieced seam side just as much.

Playing With Story – Every good game needs a story…

Every good game needs a story…. Do All Games Need Story? The definitive answer is no. However, every game needs to provide motivation. For the player, a reason for he or she to interact with the game in the first place. Storytelling. Is just one of many effective ways to provide motivation. It is not always necessary for video games to have story, and some games are downright hindered by stories that are haphazardly squeezed into reluctant gaming experiences. Is such a game. I’ll begin by saying that.
