Tuesday, January 20, 2015. WITH APOLOGIES TO ANDY WARHOHL. I feel really bad about this, but what with Warhol prints going for billions, his style seemed appropriate to the 2014 Christmas "paintings". I used Photoshop to make screens, and Illustrator to simulate screen printing. In some cases (e.g. Marius "Che" Cannard) it's a straightforward steal, in others it is a collaboration. Friday, March 27, 2015. Objet d'art - The shorebirds of Point Reyes and their eggs. I made this book that's not a book in response to the fabulous art books on display at the Codex symposium. I'm not sure where the idea came from but I've always been drawn to birds' eggs. And Point Reyes is a captivating place - with the added possibility that Sir Francis Drake anchored in the bay. Thursday, March 5, 2009. I've been fortunate to work with exhibit designer Leslie Stone. Of Sausalito, who in turn is working with landscape architects. On the Malibu Legacy Park Project. It's a joint project of the City of Malibu, residents, non-profit groups, generous donors and the local water agency. I developed one of the designs - the one of the jackrabbit - into a small test piece and then had some fun imagining what it would look like, say in Green Park? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Monday, April 22, 2013. I was inspired by the artists' books on display at the California Antiquarian Book Fair in San Francisco earlier this year, (Thank you, Stephen at Chanticleer Books. For the passes.) and I've thrown myself into bookmaking. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Tom Whitworth, artist and designer. All content © Tom Whitworth, unless noted. Simple theme. Tuesday, December 30, 2008. And then it was Christmas. Not sure what everyone thinks of their portraits, but I'm having some fun. Saturday, January 14, 2012. It was a harried Haring Christmas. Each year at Christmas time, for the past few years now, I do a series of portrait-type paintings for a group of friends. I've posted about them here before. Each series is inspired by a silly theme, although 2010 took a turn towards realism. I had fun doing a riff on Keith Haring's signature style. These are the results. Christmas 2010: Christmas series 2010. Christmas 2009: Christmas departure. Christmas 2008: And then it was Christmas.

Monday, July 27, 2009. Close but no cigar. I recently worked on some exploratory designs for a new retail cheese product. The project has not gone ahead, but the client and I liked these. I completed some illustrations on another project the same week - it was basically a week of trees and cheese. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Tom Whitworth, artist and designer. Close but no cigar.
