Please Send Sunscreen: House #1
http://www.pleasesendsunscreen.com/2014/11/house-1.html
Friday, November 28, 2014. Only 4 months late, but here is the first house we lived in upon arriving in Eleuthera. We stayed in this house for about 7 weeks, while we waited for our year long rental to become available. This house was such a joy to live in. If you ever want to visit Eleuthera, this house is on the top of my list of rentals. The vrbo.com listing can be found here. We were able to easily fit both vehicles and our boat in the parking area. Our cars have never had a more perfect view. The ro...

Tuesday, April 28, 2015. What's Jerry up to at work, you may wonder? Where does he fly? What does he fly? Does he like it? Here are the answers to those questions and more in this one-on-none interview with Jerry. (Today, the part of Jerry will be played by me, Paula.). Interviewer: So, Jerry. Tell us about your work. What do you fly? Jerry: I fly the Boeing 787 for United Airlines. Interviewer: What is the plane like? Who's flying while you're sleeping? Interviewer: Where do you fly regularly? Jerry: It...

Friday, June 6, 2014. We are here. All five of us plus one chicken dog. We've explored the house and unpacked our clothes. We've been to the store and bought supplies. Not rushing here and there, no plans, just whatever whenever! First on the fun list: Coconut hunting! As I haven't set up the computer yet and my good photos are on my good camera, these iphone shots will have to do for now.). We borrowed a saw-on-a-pole from a local friend and cut some down, too. (With the homeowners permission.). Just ig...

Thursday, July 31, 2014. Jerry thinks I'm nuts. For many reasons, but for this post, my insanity rests in the fact that I love having a swimming pool nearby even with endless water at the beach. There's just something nice about swimming without looking out for sharks, having to dislodge sand from every nook and cranny, and not having waves rocking you uncontrollably to and fro. As we don't have our own pool, we have to go find one. Did I mention they have a swim-up bar? Who doesn't love a swim-up bar?
Please Send Sunscreen: Fish and Fish's Fish
http://www.pleasesendsunscreen.com/2015/01/fish-and-fishs-fish.html
Sunday, January 4, 2015. Fish and Fish's Fish. This is what we do. We fish. Not with a pole but usually with a spear and a Hawaiian sling. What do we shoot? Things that we eat. Except this big 'ol barracuda. We don't eat barracuda because of the insanely high levels of mercury typically found in these hunting masters. But sometimes Jerry will shoot one anyway. Especially when a five foot long cuda keeps swimming around the children. Then it has to go. Jerry shot this one first, then had a backup spear fr...

Stories from the Wilderness. Shells for Sharks; An Ocean Conservation Group. Saturday, March 29, 2014. Tree Tipping on a Hike. For Christmas last year, we spent a few weeks with family in North Carolina. Part of that time was deep the heart of Suburbia. Within the confines of shopping malls, congested streets, and endless cars, there is a hidden gem; a beautiful park with streams and walking trails. We went for a hike on a cold, muddy, and gorgeous day. Cousins posed on a rock acting silly. And a shove,.

Wednesday, June 22, 2016. Our group of trick-or-treaters, minus the parents, getting ready to head out to Spanish Wells, Halloween 2014. We took the water taxi over to the island where we rented golf carts and drove up and down the streets stopping at decorated and festive houses. Typical Halloween fare from Spanish Wells, including chips, juice pouches, and candies. 2014. This pa...

Dear Universe, please give me strength, and if you can't give me that, please send wine. I can’t believe you are about to be two. You’ve grown so much in the last year. And so much has happened. I almost can’t believe you are the same baby that I gave birth to. You are so smart. You know your own name, a lot of letters, and you try to count to ten. Mostly you go One, Four, Seven, Eight, Nine, TEN! We are working on it. You will sing half of the alphabet, but only at day home for Candis. 530: My 7 week ol...
