This is where I put poetry. Departure (draft) →. December 20, 2011. This is a work in progress, as is everything else. EDIT: Actually, I think this is a final draft. When you asked me if I was okay I lied like a child. And watched it fly off so innocently,. Not at all like a butterfly but rather a wisp of smoke. You didn’t catch it. Instead you let it float up and die on the ceiling. How I wish you’d caught it, let it blind you,. So I didn’t have to breathe it back in and carry it. Enter your comment here.

This is where I put poetry. October 15, 2011. In the gorge I fell into the biting river. And found no God waiting for me at the bottom,. Cross-legged and patient, nor one reaching for me. As I gasped through the surface,. No great limb of an arm to grasp. In autumn, at the mountain’s auburned summit,. I looked out across the range, the alligator’s spine of crests,. And found no father walking amongst the scattered leaves,. Crunching them with his heavy footfall. And ruffling through fleeing pages.

This is where I put poetry. Monthly Archives: September 2012. September 23, 2012. Something haunting came out of you as the nurse pushed her needle into your arm, just below its fold. Something like the twisted howl of a young wolf, squirming in a bear trap. I restrained reassuring words, and let you … Continue reading →. Error: Twitter did not respond.
