LIGHT DISTRIBUTION TUBES (LDTs):. Light Distribution Tubes are offered in 3.75 , 5.5 and 7.5 diameters up to nominal 10 foot modules. These LDTs are offered as soft film or as rigid tube structures. LIGHT DISTRIBUTION RODS (LDRs):. Light Distribution Rods are offered in 0.5 and 1.125 diameters up to nominal 8 foot modules. These LDRs are typically cast acrylic rods scored in patterns that emit light in a controlled or random manner. These can be inserted into a protective tube for special applications.

1 Assemble poly cardonate film laminates with 3M VHB tapes in the flat. 2 Secure the VHB tape seams to precisely align laminates. 3 Remove the VHB tape liner to bond film laminates. 4 Press assembled film structure down into a forming jig. 5 Roll film structure to create tube and secure joint temporarily to insure alignment. 6 Remove VHB tape liner to create permanent tube structure. 7 End view of a finished tube structure showing the curved LDS inside.

The lobby wall in The Walbrook building in London, UK, designed by Sir Norman Foster Architects. The wall contains 192 x 4 inch diameter fluted Shott glass tubes each 22 feet high, into these glass tubes PLY. LIGHT LDTs were inserted (see detail). MEW machine shop, Osaka, Japan. Four 20 meter long x 10 diameter PLYLIGHT OLF light tubes (in 5 meter sections) were made in Minnesota in the flat, shipped to Osaka and assembled by MEW and Celsius Tech representatives. This may be the best use of remote source lighting - to locate a hot light source outside the cold storage room and piping light in. This provides suitable light levels in these rooms without adding any heat. There is a great savings in energy with such systems. The project uses a PLY.
