September 21, 2011, 8:21 pm. Important to remember when thinking about the worm. Forget the hair, tattoos and earrings…those things are funny and look good on the cover of magazines, but they are the least compelling parts of Rodman…think about what it would have been like to play with someone who was:. Anyway, Dennis Rodman is the latest member of the NBA Hall of Fame. No doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Create a free website or blog at WordPress.com.

Whew! I’m Full. | Poetry in Motion

June 27, 2012, 8:08 pm. I think I’ve finally digested the NHL and NBA playoffs. I’ve been in that phase that I inevitably go through at this time of year. It’s reminiscent of finishing Thanksgiving Dinner. Maybe you’ve had that extra scoop of mashed potatoes, the second helping of pumpkin pie that just totally puts you over the top. You’ve had all you can handle. You question your own sanity, right? Only crazy people hurt themselves like this, right? I don’t think that’s ever happened before. You are com...

March 27, 2012, 11:06 pm. And all during this time the owners of Maple Leaf Gardens were looking for something or someone to fill an empty house when the Toronto Maple Leafs weren’t playing. This is Canada and hockey is king after all. What could entertain people when they weren’t in town? What could get people to forget the hardships of the previous decade? Basketball, of course, mon frère. But the trouble didn’t stop there for the Toronto Huskies, it was only getting started. The organization...And the...

Double Digest: Who to cheer for whom do I cheer. June 2, 2012, 1:50 pm. It’s 1:30 PM on Saturday. To date the LA Kings lead the New Jersey Devils 1-0 in their series. The questions for most NHL fans in Canada is…who do I cheer for? Several answers come to mind:. 1 It doesn’t matter. If the Leafs don’t win than it’s all the same. Just more agony as we starve for a Stanley Cup another 45 years. A pox on both their houses! They’re all cheating! What you think you are entitled to! God, I love Jack Nicholson.

Double Digest: Killer Impressions | Poetry in Motion

Double Digest: Killer Impressions. June 2, 2012, 1:52 pm. Are our human tendencies there primarily for survival? And why is it so great when we do? And then there are sports impressions. Occasionally, you’ll see Kobe Bryant or Dywane Wade do a great Michael Jordan impression. When they get that angry determined look in their eyes, they do the slow motion, steady, MJ fist pump as they survey the scene of their recent assassination. And you think, “Wow, that was pure MJ! In Bowling, Lance Kershaw every so ...

May 17, 2010, 7:48 pm. And once we start playing sports we realize that beyond the amusement brought about by them and behind the rigorous, wit-sharpening, physique-building facade, there is something beautiful about them and the way direct our bodies through time and space. And this beauty teaches us things. We learn to be optimists. We learn to be teammates. We learn to perservere. We learn that the moment is important, but that winning and losing are not reducible to any given moment. We learn that a.

April 4, 2012, 10:33 pm. March is a time of the Spring, vacation, rebirth, melting snow, and college basketball. In this spellbinding time, even a marriage can be sucked into the madness. Allow me to explain. But what about fantasy sports? I mean c’mon, it’s fun! And perhaps the most fun of all is that we get that chance to see who knows their stuff. We have the Tournament Bracket. It’s all in the name of shared interest, shared vision, unity, ’til death do us part. And furthermore she doesn’t know...

You No Watch the Game, You No Make the Rules | Poetry in Motion

You No Watch the Game, You No Make the Rules. July 23, 2012, 9:58 pm. Why wouldn’t you do it? It seems like ancient history now, but the change meant that every possession counted to a greater degree and added a sense of constant urgency. Very important things for a generation with a short attention span. Should ties be allowed? Should the icing rule be changed because it limits scoring? Should the net be bigger? Should goalie pads be smaller? Should we have shoot outs to showcase star talent? Anyway, th...
