These introduce participants to working in steel, as a foundation to forming both a practical knowledge for sculpture making, and/or developing a sculptural language in constructed metal for its own sake. This might entail linear and rhythmic forms in space, or consist of volumetric and contained forms. Joseph Ingleby studied sculpture at University College for the Creative Arts at Farnham (BA Hons. 1st Class), and as a post-graduate at the Slade School of Fine Art, London, finishing in 1988. Based at Glasgow Sculpture Studios since 1989, he has exhibited work in solo and group shows across the UK. The roots of Joseph’s sculptural practice stem from his fascination with the potential that everyday objects have to become something else. These works are evolved forms. Public Sculpture | Joseph Ingleby

Comprises a series of five sculptures inspired by the microscopic desmids and diatoms that inhabit freshwater rivers, and in particular the adjacent River Leen in Bulwell, Nottingham. ‘Slipstream’. In Glasgow is made in galvanised steel and copper, and takes inspiration from nautical, navigational and natural sources. The sculpture reflects the shape and course of the River Clyde at that point and echoes the former rope-making industry of the area in a modern, dynamic form. ‘Plant Series’.
