Happy? Father’s Day | Susan Vollenweider: Stuff
https://susanvollenweider.com/2015/06/17/happy-fathers-day
Other stuff I write. June 17, 2015. July 26, 2015. My calendar, the card aisles and the colorful sales flyers that come with my newspaper tell me that Father’s Day is coming. Quickly. I’ve been writing family centered, slice of life columns for several years’ worth of Father’s Days I have a sizable file of them. Or, like looking for that ONE picture for Throw Back Thursday leads to hours paging through photo albums, I fall into a rabbit hole of reading. That happened this week. I wanted you to cry with me.

Other stuff I write. I had such great plans…. July 21, 2014. July 21, 2014. I love summer. Not so much a fan of the cold, spring is too muddy, and I get sad in the fall when all the leaves start to turn and I know that it will be gray and brown for months. Winter makes me sad, but still lifes like this make me happy. Now the kids have been out of school for two full months. It’s been a non-stop mom-taxi fest. All that stuff? Kid one at the wheel. Kid two at the wheel. We went to watch others play basebal...

Other stuff I write. No, I’m not my son’s grandmother. I didn’t plan a vacation, I planned two weeks of paradox. Jane Austen and a bank teller taught me a lesson. I’m sad spring baseball season is over? How did that happen? Hope for the non-sporty parents of sporty kids). Two of my kids went to this leadership camp-like thing so, of course, I can compare them. The not so lonely confessions of a hot mess. Oasis in the city to calm the chaos of May. This place was so cool! Riding in a Car with Boys. Three ...

“How are you?” | Susan Vollenweider: Stuff
https://susanvollenweider.com/2014/10/28/how-are-you
Other stuff I write. 8220;How are you? October 28, 2014. October 28, 2014. In the last couple of months I have gotten this question a lot. Not once have I been upset by it, not once have I been embarrassed although every single time I struggle with what to say. I know what they want to know, and depending on my relationship with the person, I might play with them a little. What have you heard? 8220;Can’t complain, how are YOU? 8220;My shoes are pinching a little but otherwise good.”. So, how am I? I know...

Stuff I write | Susan Vollenweider: Stuff
https://susanvollenweider.com/fictionnon-fiction
Other stuff I write. My head is really loud. I get to share some of the true ones in my weekly column in the Kansas City Star (see: COLUMNS F. OR MORE), and on here, of course. A lot of fiction stories are also screaming to be told. But none of them are available for you to read…yet. Let’s just say I have a nice, ever-growing trunk file, experience in handling the querying process and am always, ALWAYS working on something else. What do I write? My very messy, unstaged desk. Got at thought about this?

I went last year and stayed long enough so that my perfume was Babcock Library.(photo credit Minna Reid who has a lovely description of the town here.
