Poet lover rebel spy. March 30, 2009, 6:32 pm. Has just released some new data on how Malawians see themselves, their government, the state of the country and their political system and it’s pretty telling. As the reason that Lilongwe is so spread out? What’s telling is that 30% of Malawians believe that the coun...

Poet lover rebel spy. August 27, 2009, 11:19 pm. In this corner of the world, about a month of annual leave seems to be the norm. I just got back from mine to discover that apparently humans aren’t the only ones who need to take a rest to keep up their job function. Owners to retrieve what is left for the salvage yard.

That being said, lines at the polling stations are 4 hours long and I give much credit to those willing to wait through such lines to have their voices heard – my beloved at the top of that list. To warm, protect, and cover; to dwell upon with morbid persistence. For me, Lifetime movies are one of those things that I’m not sure that I like because they’re hilariously bad or if I sincerely, right down in the warmest, middlest part of my heart, enjoy them for real. The result is that I’m some sort of weird mix of New England and Southern culture — the kind of person who loves the Patriots, the Red Sox and gay marriage, but who also says “Sir” and “Ma’am” and knows how to cook a beautifully golden-brown Creole roux. Cheesy Potatoes, Steaks, and Baked Squash. Crawfish or Shrimp Etouffee. Creamy Chicken and Broccoli. Lindsey’...

Especially now that I have more time and energy to cook, I’ve been working on eating less processed foods and making more stuff from scratch. This led me on a mission to learn more about making my own soup. What did I learn? That making soup is as easy as throwing a bunch of fresh junk into some broth. It doesn’t take a genius or a soup scientist. One cup of chopped onions.
