Title say's it all really. The darkness of night enveloped her. For poor souls lay calm asleep. Unaware of dangers from the deep. As ice drifted closer. The ice it was spotted. Murdoch on hearing this tried averting. Hoping for near miss. But too close she came. As ice met steel. From Atlantic's frozen fury. Flooding from the Bow. Men trapped as doors close. The first victims titanic claimed. The lifeboats are dispatched. But boats too few for passengers and crew. There many left behind. Now broke in two.

My eyes well up. With sadness for when I lost my nan. I loved her more than words can describe. Sadness from my soul. But I remember good times. There what makes me smile. There how I remember. When I was a child. Laughter all the while. And in school holidays shopping. We had fun all the time. When I remember the sad times. My mind it switches off. Such a thing to happen. To my lovely Nani know I should have cried. I know I should have done more. I know I should have showed my love. Laughing at my boys.

Two poems written after the tsunami in Japan earlier in the year. For Japan we weep. From the safety of my home I watch. Scenes of natures horror. Engulfing coast with horrific vigour. 35 ft of terror. Relentless in its forward march. Removing mans mark from the world. Leaving dark brown nothingness. And the lives of many in tatters. Destruction continues after its passing. Stations on coastlines in disarray. A danger many say. A tragedy 3 fold continues. And then onto man’s nuclear plight. But is it so.
