I looked at Dryden's lovely tales;. His couplets sing like nightingales. His polished words so nicely buffed:. I wish that I could write such stuff. I kept on skimming Dryden's tomes,. And read his many groovy poems,. And every thought I henceforth had. Was in fine metre duly clad. Iambic verse with perfect feet;. My head was feeling pretty neat. So then I tried to write a sonnet,. An Ode to Blockade. How thrilling to work for a company this small. How cool when the CEO's just down the hall. How nice when you're working till well after four. And a client calls in to complain even more. This business was built on our boss's big plan. Investors respect such a clever young man. As long as he's meek and as long as he's nice. They may keep him around if he takes their advice. Those happy investors can manage things right. They give us more money when things get too tight.

Whose brain's been emptied by a mortar blast. His name and history are now well-concealed. His mind's a mirror of that battlefield. This man now rots behind asylum gates,. His thoughts confounded while he sits and waits. He marks his time against the doubtful day. When his health and spirit stop their slow decay. A lonely woman lives in town nearby.
