It's like Mardi Gras meets the bombing of Dresden. Friday, March 27, 2009. House of War Review. I'm really glad this article was in the NYTimes. Today (http:/ www.nytimes.com/2009/03/27/world/27military.html? Hp ) because it's the necessary catalyst for writing what's possibly my longest original post on Tumblr (too long for Tumblr, moving it to Blogger). Up until roughly two weeks ago, this article probably wouldn't have caught my attention, but now it does, and reading it makes me angry. Here's why:.

Poetry and Scotch: April 2006

http://poetryandscotch.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html

It's like Mardi Gras meets the bombing of Dresden. Wednesday, April 26, 2006. Karl Polanyi's "The Great Transformation". I just found out this post isn't dead- so I'm bringing it back to the top for ease of access. I'll get on it tonight, but not now, because it's reading day and I have a three-on-three tournament to play in. One more quick point and I'm done- If the assumption that humanity is continually redefined through cultural/societal/technological/political evolution is held as true, than I find ...

Poetry and Scotch: Sixty Million Dollar Dream

http://poetryandscotch.blogspot.com/2007/07/sixty-million-dollar-dream.html

It's like Mardi Gras meets the bombing of Dresden. Friday, July 27, 2007. Sixty Million Dollar Dream. For the first time in months, I had a strong urge to post on my blog this morning. Specifically, I wanted to write a quick recap of the dream that I had just been enjoying up until the moment my alarm went off. I couldn't post it then (I obviously had something to do, why else would an unemployed person set an alarm? No A-List actors: Besides the fact that we couldn't pay them, I don't see Denzel. Anyone...

Poetry and Scotch: I Can Still Hate my iPod

http://poetryandscotch.blogspot.com/2007/08/i-can-still-hate-my-ipod.html

It's like Mardi Gras meets the bombing of Dresden. Saturday, August 25, 2007. I Can Still Hate my iPod. So my digital camera can function equally well as portable storage for both PC's and Mac's simultaneously, but my freaking iPod can't. I guess this makes sense, because a sixty gigabyte portable hard drive that plays music is so much more functional when it can't be used as a sixty gigabyte portable hard drive. Posted by Justin at 11:58 PM. Dude its time for another post. Sixty Million Dollar Dream.

Poetry and Scotch: March 2006

http://poetryandscotch.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html

It's like Mardi Gras meets the bombing of Dresden. Thursday, March 23, 2006. I'm working on a couple of things for class that could be modified into decent blog posts, so watch out for that. In the mean time, check out the view from the beach house I stayed in last weekend. It is also looking like I might be getting an apartment on the beach up on the Outer Banks, making that my semi-permanent view. Actually, I am getting an apartment on the beach. Type "Kill Devil Hills, NC" here. Tuesday, March 21, 2006.

Are you a "real man"? Sunday, February 19, 2006. Two questions: why is it so cold in here and why are we singing African-American spirituals seeing that everyone is English? Cut back to Shamrock: "Tito Ortiz is going to find out who Ken Shamrock is, was, and is now." The "is now" in that sentence wasn't really a redundancy. The Christian Kantianist: February 2006

http://christiankantianist.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html

I love to rant. Thursday, February 23, 2006. I just got back last night from Washington, D.C. I was interviewing for a position with the premier public policy think tank in the country, and they have informed me that they are going to offer me the job. My primary areas will be education issues as well as family and welfare issues. I'll start June 1st (roughly 10 days after graduation). As I prepare for this job, expect a lot of posts on school choice, vouchers, etc. Posted by Barnabas18 @ 10:18 AM.

I love to rant. Friday, January 20, 2006. That is, is the use of contraceptives consistent with biblical values or not? At this point, let me state that I believe life begins at conception, so I obviously do not condone the use of any types of contraception that would abort what has already been conceived. Anything from a morning after pill to an abortion would clearly be wrong. But, this doesn't answer the simple question of whether using standard contraceptive devices is right or wrong. 3 I was hoping ...

Standing Out in the Cold. Tuesday, January 16, 2007. Congressmen as Presidential Candidates. Get off my back, I'm busy these days. In the history of the U.S. 15 senators have become president. Only two - Harding and Truman - moved straight from the senate to the White House. And JFK is the only other to do it with less than 2 years between. Here's the link. Here are some interesting facts:. 4 presidents held only the office of representative. 6 presidents held none of these offices. The office of senator.

Standing Out in the Cold: Lots of Money

http://standingoutinthecold.blogspot.com/2007/04/lots-of-money.html

Standing Out in the Cold. Monday, April 02, 2007. Whoa, am I posting again? I just have a quick question: what would happen if a presidential candidate donated their tens of millions of dollars. To feeding hungry children, or curing AIDS, or developing alternative fuel sources even, rather than spending it on campainging? Or would it just spell the end of their hopes in this whoever-spends-the-most-money-wins political system we have today? I'm pretty sure it would constitute fraud. Variations of a Theme.

Standing Out in the Cold. Thursday, April 19, 2007. If you consider how many hours they actually work - for us - how much do they make per hour? Is priceless. But don't get me wrong, this isn't about Democrats or Republicans - I am confident that most people on both sides of the aisle are the exact same. What this is about is how horrific our lawmakers are these days. This goes right alongside the " Series of Tubes. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Variations of a Theme. This Place is a Prison.

Drama Queen with a Broadband Connection. Saturday, July 28, 2007. There's a perfectly lame explanation for the dearth of posts, I swear. By complaining about it. I hate to bother her, but I hate to bore you with it too. I've also been busy with social engagements. Which sounds depressingly weird to announce. Tuesday night was dinner in Annapolis with former Grovers. We ate sushi at Nano. Downtown. I enjoyed my Kama Kazi ("Spicy tuna, avocado, crunchy flake and eel with eel sauce on the outside" - YUM!
