Poetry: Merdeka

http://www.poetrybyarsyadazrai.blogspot.com/p/merdeka.html

Look at that old empty stadium,. Where they gathered and. Watched with excitement,. As a tired warrior raised his right. Hand into the air, and shouted. The entire nation like a. But felt like silk to those. Who waited for so long, sick. Of laboring for the white man’s cause. Who could blame them for wanting. What was rightfully theirs? 446 years we’ve waited,. They would yell in the streets,. With tears of glory rushing down their face. They’ve been through hell, but. Their persistence in adversity.

Poetry: Stories From Malaysia: The Busker

http://www.poetrybyarsyadazrai.blogspot.com/p/stories-from-malaysia-busker.html

Stories From Malaysia: The Busker. I do not own this picture. The market is bustling. Rows of stalls, gleaming bright lights,. Cries from vendors, buyers alike,. Smoke rising, filling the still night air,. Food made and sold nearly everywhere. One Char Kuey Teow, maybe some apam too,. Wrapped in newspaper, just for you. Whatever the want, whatever the need,. Nobody lost in the jungle of greed. The busker stops and lays down his hat,. Pulls out his guitar and takes a step back. No more chaos, no more riot.

Poetry: Stories From Malaysia: The Penglipur Lara

http://www.poetrybyarsyadazrai.blogspot.com/p/stories-from-malaysia-penglipur-lara.html

Stories From Malaysia: The Penglipur Lara. Photo courtesy of Naim Putera. Oh Mister Storyteller, story teller,. Tell me a tale or two. Of Kings and Queens, Of life and colour,. And maybe I'll listen to you. If it is story that you want,. Then sit down really still. Don't say a word as I start,. Open your ears and listen well. Long ago, far away,. On a sandy beach by the sea. Three boys did walk side by side,. To see what they wanted to see,. They saw the birds fly so high,. With wings as white as snow.

Poetry: The Old Man

http://www.poetrybyarsyadazrai.blogspot.com/p/the-old-man.html

I write this now. Under the sunshine bright skies. The shade of a cedar tree. Casting a cooling shadow. As pen touches paper. Nostalgia of past summers. A movie played in rewind. Full of colour and life. I've been there once. If only I could. Be a child again. Feel every blade of grass. As I run barefoot, full of energy. Until I stop and can run no more. But I am old. Every inch of grace. As moving is difficult. Yet my heart is the same. Still being able to imagine. Away from the realities and hardships.

This Is A Chicken: January 2013

http://muaraz.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 30. Look how empty my January tab is. Just a reflection on how boring my life has been recently. A life burdened by calculus. And this is not a blog that anyone really reads anyway, so I'm no way pressured to post anything. I should really use my talent for words towards something productive. I've written a few scripts before, so it shouldn't be too hard (I hope). Whatever it is, I have to make it through this semester. Sigh. Wednesday, January 16. Bavani is not a hero. But on the posi...

This Is A Chicken: February 2013

http://muaraz.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 19. A Dialogue example for class. The sound of the flamenco echoed off the cobbled streets. The guitarist stood tall, his eyes directed away from the sunlight as to not distract him, his feet tapping softly to the rhythm of his music. He was lost in his own world. Play me a song. The guitarist looked up. Beautiful blue eyes looked back. This is a song, he said. No it isn’t, I’ve never heard it. Just because you’ve never heard of it doesn’t make it not a song. She paused. Spain? It&#8217...

This Is A Chicken: The Keris

http://muaraz.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-keris.html

Wednesday, February 13. For class I had to write a short story (well, not really a full story with the proper structure) about a strange object. Sticking with my style of implementing Malaysian culture in my writing, I decided to do a short story about the Keris. Tree in the yard, which used to really piss mother off as she loved her rambutans. I guess that’s why she married father, an orchard owner, who owned the biggest orchard in the kampong. And it was the only thing I heard. Astaghfirullah.

This Is A Chicken: December 2012

http://muaraz.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Monday, December 31. My two newest projects have just been finished and can be seen on the Projects page (check the tabs! It's been an exhausting few days but I'm more than satisfied with the end products. Hopefully I can keep this going and not go back into a creative slump once my college semester starts. I'm even thinking of trying out 8 bit / electronic music. If that works out it'll be awesome. Saturday, December 29. Day 3 of Living Without You. And it's going to be a classic top 10 :). This Is A Chicken: October 2012

http://muaraz.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, October 31. My Sociology professor said something interesting in class today. While we all, in state college, feel sorry for the people near the east coast who were hit bad by Hurricane Sandy, we will still have a guilty yearning for the same (well, maybe not as bad) kind of weather to hit Penn State. Maybe it's the experience of a hurricane, or maybe we're just human and are too lazy to go to classes. It's probably the latter. Condolences to those who lost loves ones in the storm. The combina...

Sunday, July 11, 2010. A Quarry To Blast. Come one and all. There's a place for you here. Where the dusty, cracked cups. Turn to fountains and burst. Where the cracks in your soul. Beam with light once they're filled. Because no one's alive. Till they're freed from death first. Life's a quarry to blast. Living and dying to be born at last. If a bell's born to ring. Then a person is born. For the very same thing. So head for the streets. There are stories to tell. There are leaks to keep leaking. I love t...
