Tuesday, January 29, 2013. French Onion soup has long been a favorite of mine. When my friend, Liz, raved about this recipe from Weight Watchers themselves, I knew I needed to try it. And lo and behold, it was amazing! I made it mid-day and simmered it for about 5 hours. It was so savory and delicious! We have lots of cold days still ahead of us this winter, so warm up with this great soup! 2 medium uncooked onion(s), thinly sliced. 4 tablespoons sherry (dry or sweet) or white wine. 4 slices French bread.

Potato and Canadian Bacon Slow Cooker Chowder. 2 cups uncooked potatoes, cut into 1/2-inch cubes. 1 large uncooked carrots, diced. 1 cup uncooked leeks, chopped, white part only. 2 celery stalks, chopped. 1 clove of garlic, minced. 4 cups fat free chicken broth. 1/2 cup uncooked pearl barley. 1/4 tsp. dried thyme, crushed. 1/4 tsp. black pepper. 4 oz uncooked Canadian-style bacon, cut into 1/4-inch pieces.
