http://askeladdturer.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
OUTDOOR ADVENTURES UP NORTH. Monday, February 2, 2009. Its winter, and its dog season up north. The last weeks have seen some more long training runs for the dogs as well as one race, Tromsquest. Tromsquest is a 170km long race in our backyard, Rostadalen and the mountain around Devvdes. Here we ran a 85km trail twice, whit a 4 hour mandatory rest between each lap. 15 teams compeeted in the 8 dog class and 17 in the 12 dog class. Much more than we had hoped for. Links to this post. A crossing of Greenland.
UP NORTH: Black days
http://askeladdturer.blogspot.com/2009/11/black-days.html
OUTDOOR ADVENTURES UP NORTH. Friday, November 27, 2009. The worst November in history is soon comming to an end. Outside there is nothing but missery. If you try to sneak out the door you are most likely to end up in hospital, either whit a broken leg or at mental hospital whit severe depression. There is nothing that is fun. Even the birds have stoped to sing. There is no pictures this time. I dont want any memories from this November. That will send me into depression if I ever get to see it.
UP NORTH: Time for update

OUTDOOR ADVENTURES UP NORTH. Tuesday, December 9, 2008. Into the arctic mountains. Its dog-season again. It has actually been that since August. So I think it might be time for some updates from the deep forest. This year WE HAVE WINTER! We have been on snow since early November and it has been below zero since the snow came. We have about 50km of trail out of the dog yard, and can go everywhere in the mountains. What a difference since last years F. up winter. And I will run Troms Quest. On Sunday I was...

Wednesday, February 20, 2008. Apparently there are still, on average, at least 30 of you visiting this site every day. And I know you're not just my parents, because the technology says you come from 6 different continents! Who do I know in Columbia? Or, let's see, SUDAN? Ok so its been awhile since I've written. Let's move on. Since I last wrote I have taken time off from my geological duties to visit Indiana, Hawaii, and most recently Utah. If you can't go international, go national! Laurel has a degre...
ColdPhoto: Loose Ends

Wednesday, August 15, 2007. Those were fun to wake up to in Canada, when I noticed my skin coming off! Now, I've gotten blisters on my feet maybe. maybe. Twice in my life before, and not for lack of trying. I simply do not blister. (Incidentally, I've never gotten poison oak before either, which seems a rather extraordinary stroke of luck that makes me believe I may be immune). So, seeing those puppies was actually sort of terrifying. Some last views of Cherskii, while I was waiting for the helicopter:.
ColdPhoto: A Year
http://coldphoto.blogspot.com/2007/08/year.html
Tuesday, August 07, 2007. Well, I guess I dropped the ball with the blog. Just because I'm not doing something fantastically exciting anymore doesn't mean I'm going to stop writing.although I imagine my readership will drastically decrease. I will say this - it shouldn't be long before I start doing something else ridiculous, so if you're interested in that sort of thing, I recommend checking up here periodically to see where I've flown myself. Patience, my good people. To much "LOST") but for me is in t...

Sunday, September 09, 2007. For anyone still reading. I know I said I would continue writing. I didn't mean to take a month. But things have been happening. To answer your first burning question: I have a job. And it issssssss:. But who cares about all that! I can be a geologist if I want to! I also have a new home. And it is innnnnnn:. Ugh, I know. Well, my new place is nice, I live in the garage of a nice house. Just kidding! So, here's the plan. I'm going to be working here for a year. Then I'...It's ...

Tuesday, January 30, 2007. Day 184: Coast Guard, the Norwegian Version. Meanwhile, read this. While you're at it. Sunday, January 28, 2007. Day 182: A Day of Note. I have officially been away for exactly half a year. For curious parties, I'll be back in California the last week of July. Today the Norwegian - we'll call her Tuna, because that's what she said I could call her, because I can't pronounce her real name very well and don't know how to spell it regardless - made waffles for everyone! Tuesday, July 08, 2008. Go back to the previous post and see photos, now with the magic of color! Apologies for not posting photos of Svalbard yet.simply have not had the time. Soon! Monday, July 07, 2008. In the illustrious words of MC Frontalot, “Just get in the ring.”. This blog has muddled itself into obscurity over the last year; this I know. It’s finally time to recap the last months and hurdle full-steam back into ColdPhoto: no longer a year in the north, but many years in the north. After discuss...

There are places so cold, 35 below seems almost balmy. Where the wind is so strong, it can pick up a 500-pound barrel and toss it five miles away. Where you have to pick your way through an ever-changing ice field. That hides crevasses just waiting to bring your resupply mission to a grinding halt. We can help you plan your exp...
