Noodle Soup for the Inebriated Soul. May 31, 2006. Posted by Binford in News. Sometimes, the real criminals are the judges who have a bigger heart for the crinimal than they do for the victim and society. A Montreal man convicted of sexually assaulting his young daughter and posting pictures of the crime on the internet has had his prison sentence reduced by the Quebec Court of Appeal. One wonders how these judges sleep at night. An absolute tragedy. The Curse of King Clancy. May 17, 2006. May 17, 2006.

Wednesday, April 20, 2005. Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room: Review. The fatal flawif there was one you say it was pride. But then it was arrogance, intolerance, greed.". I sense that these must be the magic ingredients in any scandal, be it Enron, Adscam or Oil-for-Food. Enron was based on Jeff Skilling’s idea of a new way to deliver energy; to make a stock market for natural gas. For the idea to work he insisted on mark to market. One of the contributing factors to the Enron scandal was the feeding...

Media Staples: August 2004
http://mediastaples.blogspot.com/2004_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 28, 2004. I was in full Olympics overload this evening so I decided to surf the net to see what I could find. I stubled my way onto America Rhetoric where I found a Commencement Address at Harvard. But to the point.here are some excerpts from the speech, similar in tone and content to the one Bono delivered at PM Paul Martin's Coronation (or whatever it is called in Canada). Rock music to me is rebel music. But rebelling against what? When the history books (that some of you will write) ...

Thursday, June 30, 2005. The night started with the Star Wars Main Theme (duh! And I had goosebumps. We were sitting in the choir loft, practically on top of the stage, and the power of the music was amazing. The event was hosted by Anthony Daniels who also wrote the script for the narration. He was a great host - funny and charming. During the narration he would use his C-3P0 voice on cue and once even did an impression of Leia. The crowd loved him. Star Wars Main Theme. The Adventures of Jar Jar. Flag ...

Media Staples: November 2004

Friday, November 26, 2004. Review: How to dismantle an atomic bomb. For those who know me it come as no surprise that I purchased U2's new CD the first day it was available. As a new blogger LeithWeb puts it U2's and Coldplay's music is currently the best even if their politics are the worst. I am not that harsh, Jubilee 2000 was a good idea and so is fighting AIDS in Africa, but some of Bono's religion does not fit together too tightly. Of science and the human heart. There is no limit. Pretty solid tun...

Thursday, October 06, 2005. The Apprentice: Martha Stewart kicked off its third week with a bundle of joy and a deceptively simple task. Show plant Jim, after wishing his wife luck with her "task", became the father of a brand new baby girl! As Jim's chances of being Martha Stewart's apprentice hover near those of the Blue Jays winning the world series again, it would have probably been safe to attend the birth. Congratulations Jim! Primarious sells 5 cakes for over $3000 in revenue. Ulong sells ....

Wednesday, July 27, 2005. Well did anyone see that coming. Ashley Leitao! And Casey Leblanc survives another week. I guess Maritimers are looking after their own and British Columbians don't care. I wasn't Ashley Leitao's biggest fan but that was way too early. Posted by Pops at 8:25 PM. Tuesday, July 26, 2005. Canadian Idol Top Nine. Pops: Nice Kareoke. If she got this far doing this she will get a little further. Mavis: Heaven help this song - very odd timing. Pops: Nailed it. Awesome. Mavis: What's wi...

Media Staples: Commanding Chief?
http://mediastaples.blogspot.com/2005/09/commanding-chief.html
Wednesday, September 28, 2005. Being in Canada I was able watch both Commander-in-Chief and The Amazing Race last night as CTV has time shifted C-I-C to 8:00PM. The premise, an Independent Vice-President becomes Commander-in-Chief, to the dismay of a dying President, is completely flawed, but I have watched programs with larger flaws. This flaw was compounded when Geena Davis' character asked "what happens now? Or should she follow her own vision for the Presidency? Was an American or Nigerian citizen.
