http://texasstateandlocal.blogspot.com/2013/04/blog-stage-6.html
Misty's Dive Into Texas Government Blog. Monday, April 8, 2013. To our Gun-less Cowboys. I must agree, it seems a little less like Texas for us not to be able to wear our firearms at our sides. I had to really contemplate the multitude of consequences for and against the “open carry” option and I seem to be at an impasse. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Love and Tolerance in Texas: Texas Politicians for "Ag-Gag" Laws?
http://kelleyjura.blogspot.com/2013/04/in-commentary-on-eyes-of-texas-blog-mr.html
Love and Tolerance in Texas. Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Texas Politicians for "Ag-Gag" Laws? In a commentary on the Eyes of Texas. The blog author also mentions the public health issues of E. coli and salmonella but fails to mention the ammonia and hydrogen sulfide that comes from the 280 billion pounds of manure each year. The improper storage and disposal is a serious threat to air and water quality. Texas does little to enforce environmental standards on these CATO's. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Texas Government blog : AISD to open single-sex schools
http://abbyintexas.blogspot.com/2013/02/aisd-to-open-single-sex-schools.html
Tuesday, February 5, 2013. AISD to open single-sex schools. On January 28, 2013, The Austin Chronicle. Apparently, there is evidence that shows that single-sex schools don't actually help people learn, and they typically reinforce gender stereotypes, as well as cause problems for transgendered people. Another issue is transportation for the students in those districts that don't want to attend a same-sex school. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Red White and Blue State. Texas Government blog : Why pay for empty beds in prisons?
http://abbyintexas.blogspot.com/2013/02/why-pay-for-empty-beds-in-prisons.html
Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Why pay for empty beds in prisons? There are 111 prisons in Texas, and $123 million of our tax dollars are spent on leasing beds from private prison companies each year. As mentioned in this article. The editorial board at the Statesman takes a firm stance on this issue- claiming this $123 million "is money poorly spent that could be redirected elsewhere". They see the empty beds as an opportunity to close even more prisons and end contracts with private prison companies.

Love and Tolerance in Texas. Thursday, March 28, 2013. The Business of Standardized Testing in Texas. These standardized test are a result of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 introduced by Texas's own lovable (seriously), President George W. Bush. The well intended Act was a reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (1965), an aid program for disadvantaged students, and requires States to administer standardized tests in order to receive federal funding. These tests are deemed "st...

Texas Politics: Perry denies health care to Texans
http://mypoliticaljourney2013.blogspot.com/2013/02/perry-denies-health-care-to-texans.html
Wednesday, February 6, 2013. Perry denies health care to Texans. In an article published last summer in dogcanyon. I thought this article was worth reading even though its been a few months since published because I think health care is an important issue to Texans, and to the nation. I believe it's a problem that needs improvement, and this is a reality. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Red, White, and Blue State. Deep in the Heart of Texas.Government and Politics.
