Front and Back Colored Polyforms. Let's color front and back of a figure. Using three colors we get 3 3=6 different pieces if the figure is symmetric under reflection and 3*3=9 pieces otherwise. In 2001 Roel Huisman suggested a set of polyforms made up of a square, a sliced square (tan) and a sliced domino (dom). Colored Cubes

Lets color the six faces of a cube. If we use six colors and each face has a different color, we get the known 30 MacMahon cubes. For this set a lot of problems were stated, analyzed and solved. If we use more or less colors and allow two or more faces to have the same color, we get the following table. Same colored faces allowed. 1/24*(n 6 3n 4 12n 3 8n 2). According to the Polya-Burnside formula the number of cubes with same colors on their faces can be determined for general n.

Polytans are built by connecting rectangular isosceles triangles at their short or long sides called s-sides or h-sides. Real pieces with a thickness greater than zero can be expanded by putting another triangle on top of them and this way you get the Stacked Polytans. The triangle must touch another triangle or square with its whole area and must be aligned to the grid. In the new layer you can add further triangles as usual. Total Number of Triangles.
