A Polyglot (in Training): Looking Back on 2012 and Forward to 2013
http://polyglotintraining.blogspot.com/2013/01/looking-back-on-2012-and-forward-to-2013.html
A Polyglot (in training! Wednesday, 2 January 2013. Looking Back on 2012 and Forward to 2013. Yup Miranda, you're absolutely right - long time no post! My main 'post to' blog is really my textiles one. So although I have been doing some work on my languages of late, I haven't been posting that much. The less time I mess about on-line, the more actually useful stuff I get done! I daresay quite a number of people find themselves in a similar position, no? Blog for goals to complete during 2011 and 2012.
A Polyglot (in Training): Recent Acquisitions
http://polyglotintraining.blogspot.com/2012/06/recent-acquisitions.html
A Polyglot (in training! Monday, 4 June 2012. I'm trying to generally reduce the number of books I own, especially as we are thinking of moving to a more convenient location soon, but I have to confess that my language book collection is growing again! Here are the most recent additions:. So, here we have, on the far right, two more 'how to learn' books. I don't think I need too. I find them quite motivating and there are always some new ideas to pick up and try. Actually contain enough exercises and the...
A Polyglot (in Training): What's happening in my language world.
http://polyglotintraining.blogspot.com/2013/06/gosh-havent-done-update-here-for-over-3.html
A Polyglot (in training! Friday, 28 June 2013. What's happening in my language world. I haven't done an update here for over 3 months! Well, as goals and circumstances are constantly fluctuating, I suppose it's no big surprise. Anyway, here is the current state of play on the 2013 goals list, langauge section only - changed again, (fancy that, eh? Not all books are to be completed, just worked through as far as possible. Chinese Demystified 6.3/22. Elementary Chinese Readers 1. Revise GCSE German book.
A Polyglot (in Training): February 2013 Progress Report
http://polyglotintraining.blogspot.com/2013/03/february-2013-progress-report.html
A Polyglot (in training! Friday, 1 March 2013. February 2013 Progress Report. Here's what I hoped to do and what I actually did. Finish Schaum Chinese grammar. I did part of the next chapter, but I didn't finish the book. Finish Colloquial Chinese - yes, this one I managed to do, hurrah! Start Colloquial Chinese 2 and do 3 chapters. Didn't get to this one. Start Elementary Chinese Readers 1 and do at least half of it. Yup, I did this. No, didn't really do this at all. Progress in Italian Verb Drills.
A Polyglot (in Training): Language goals from Oct 2013 - Dec 2014
http://polyglotintraining.blogspot.com/2014/03/language-goals-from-oct-2013-dec-2014.html
A Polyglot (in training! Thursday, 20 March 2014. Language goals from Oct 2013 - Dec 2014. It's been forever since I last posted! Anyway, here's the current status on the current set of goals. As you can see, I've stepped up the Chinese work (mostly revision just now) and included only German, (which I don't do very often and haven't really touched since last year), as an 'extra'. If a trip and/or a move is planned, you can expect me to step up on that instead! As you can see, some have been completed.

Art Excursion: OK, let's get this show on the road!
http://ebraun.blogspot.com/2011/03/ok-lets-get-this-show-on-road.html
Everyday Matters Drawing Challenge. View my complete profile. Wednesday, 9 March 2011. OK, let's get this show on the road! I recently decided I would make a more concerted effort with art. I won't say 'a concerted effort' without the word 'more' as my interests and involvement with them cycle, so whilst this week I'm really into drawing, painting, Italian and going for walks, next week I'll probably be passionate about German, science and embroidery instead! 9 March 2011 at 15:25. 10 March 2011 at 15:44.

Brauns On Tour: Durham afternoon visit - 3 Nov 2010

Tuesday, 22 January 2013. Durham afternoon visit - 3 Nov 2010. However, here are a selection of the better ones. After finding an inconspicuous sort of place to park the car for three hours, we took a walk down the hill towards the city centre and got a first glimpse of the castle we'd come to take a tour of over the rooftops. Here's the more-or-less done to death shot of the castle from the bridge crossing the River Wear. And some daft what-not posing on the bridge! How cool would that be? I think the o...

http://faroutfareast.blogspot.com/2013/01/edinburgh-4-nov-2010.html
Friday, 25 January 2013. Edinburgh - 4 Nov 2010. After leaving our convenient half way stop in Durham, we headed due north to Edinburgh and, after an overnight stay in a very reasonably priced hotel with the oddest shower (it had a square head that was directly above you - not so convenient if you want to keep the water off your hair for some reason! We went out to the city to have a look around and to meet up with friends from Germany. Here are some highlights. Even the Tardis made a stop here! Of cours...

Art Excursion: Pastel Rose
http://ebraun.blogspot.com/2011/10/pastel-rose.html
Everyday Matters Drawing Challenge. View my complete profile. Monday, 3 October 2011. I did this a few weeks ago and posted the whole card on my stitching blog, but I thought a (rather larger than life) close up of the pastel rosebud might work well here too. Hope you like it! I like 'chunky' media and had a play the other day with some pastels, colour blocks and so on, creating tree trunks. Perhaps I'll post that soon too. 4 October 2011 at 23:32. A Polyglot (in Training)
A Polyglot (in training! Sunday, 13 May 2012. Trying out on-line learning. I'm not really that keen on 100% on-line (or on screen) learning, to be honest. I prefer a book that I can read easily without needing glasses and that I can take around with me. Having said that, I am. First of all, I'm working through the post-beginners' French course Ma France. With German, I've just started watching the comedy clips in the What's So Funny About German. Although I'm resisting the temptation to start that one as...
