My attempted journey towards multilingual mastery. Textbook Experience: An Integrated Approach to Intermediate Japanese. December 18, 2014. I bought the book so I could take it to university I like paper books). I considered doing a video to accompany this but I decided that my voice sounds too horrible when recorded, and my mum loves to talk on the phone so it’s hard to find a spot in the house to film where the air is not dispersed with Cantonese chitchat = =. The book comes with 2 CDs. I think you cou...

My attempted journey towards multilingual mastery. January 31, 2016. I didn’t even realise scores were out until I logged on here. But yeah! It is what it is. To be honest, I wasn’t even expecting to pass because I just simply didn’t prepare for the exam, despite my best intentions. On the flipside I settled into uni life a bit better and sorted out some new jobs. But I still decided to take the December N2 to gauge where I was at ‘au naturel’. I was super shocked by the listening section though! One of ...

My attempted journey towards multilingual mastery. July 20, 2015. I’m finally bringing it back to ITALIAN after …. a million years because I will be starting night classes! Well I think it’s exciting😀 When I did Italian as an HSC subject two years ago I got a state ranking, so the Co As It here (similar to Alliance Française but just the Italian version) gave out course vouchers to us! I am interning at an Asian pop culture and media website, so I currently write articles about Asian music/bands/artists...

My attempted journey towards multilingual mastery. In with the new. February 27, 2015. This is my last post before semester starts again. And I neglect the blog. Kinokuniya was having a start-of-semester sale so all Japanese textbooks were 20% off! Bless So here are the goods! I’ve started working though the Shin Kanzen Master N2 Grammar book (on Chapter 2! Is there some neurological study linking red and pink with err…listening? I don’t know. Perhaps somebody can shed some light on this😀. February 28, ...

What do you mean by “wild”? | Lisa Learns Korean

https://lisalearnskorean.wordpress.com/2014/12/18/what-do-you-mean-by-wild

What do you mean by “wild”? December 18, 2014. Helloooo. How is everyone? I was cruising through the library yesterday and, as usual, stopped in the language section to see if there was anything new. I happened to see one book called Wild Korean and was immediately excited. And then I saw the cover:. Like, what in the world? I know it’s called “Wild” Korean, but why is there Photoshopped wildlife on the cover? 😂) Whatever, I thought. But then I looked inside and saw this:. Game plan for tonight:. Fill i...

Update of Mini-Goal: Japanese Speaking | Hardships Unnumbered

https://hardshipsunnumbered.wordpress.com/2016/08/21/update-of-mini-goal-japanese-speaking

Flound'ring like a man in fire or lime. Making the most of time. Reading- An Approach to Language Learning →. Update of Mini-Goal: Japanese Speaking. So, a few weeks ago I set myself a mini-goal of speaking Japanese. This was a big thing for me as I always feel self-conscious and reasonably stupid when I speak – struggle wit. 1) Shadowing and noticing. I have a Japanese shadowing book which is basically a script of short exchanges with accompanying audio. I approached this in a couple of ways. 8217; so I...

Flound'ring like a man in fire or lime. Newer posts →. So, my reading plan then is to focus on target-reading books, original Italian books, books and audiobooks of texts I’m familiar with in English and also short articles from Rai Arte or Rai Letturatura. I don’t think I did so much reading when learning Japanese but this is partly due to not finding the texts I wanted or having to learn five hundred Kanji before I could even attempt them! By icyotsuba •. I’ve set myself a goal here to work throu...

Flound'ring like a man in fire or lime. Italian – end of the 1st month. Update: Mini-Goal – Noticing Kanji →. So what will be my goals for the second month? Japanese Goals – spending time with the language. This is not going to be completing books – like last month. Instead it’s about skills and spending time developing these skills. It’s also about ‘time’. Writing Goal – 3 days for 1hr (intensive). Vocabulary and Kanji Goal- 5 days for 20mins (low to medium). Random pages in ‘Basic Kanji 1’. Interesting...

Flound'ring like a man in fire or lime. Taking those next steps…. Japanese – end of the 1st month →. Biscuit, brew and Japanese. How much studying can you do in 5 minutes? 8216;Practising is about quality not quantity. Some days I practise for hours; other days it will be just a few minutes’. Easy – tired but functioning. Taking those next steps… | Hardships Unnumbered

https://hardshipsunnumbered.wordpress.com/2016/07/18/taking-those-next-steps

Flound'ring like a man in fire or lime. Biscuit, brew and Japanese. How much studying can you do in 5 minutes? Taking those next steps…. Here I’ve been noticing compound Kanji but I have forgotten the meaning of some parts of them. To help me further with this, next week I’ll be using a range of Kanji books (which I have a far few) to see which is the best to clarify such difficulties. I’ll review on this next week. So, what do you do about this? 1) Forgotten grammar points. 2) Confusion or uncertainty.

Italian – end of the 1st month | Hardships Unnumbered

https://hardshipsunnumbered.wordpress.com/2016/07/30/italian-end-of-the-1st-month

Flound'ring like a man in fire or lime. Japanese – end of the 1st month. Month 2: Goals →. Italian – end of the 1st month. My monthly goals for Italian were very different to my goals for Japanese. Japanese was heavily focused on grammar and Kanji. My focus for Italian was simply to enjoy reading and listening with the odd review of vocabulary. Certainly the schedule was less onerous. There was no real need to work out how many chapters I had to do each week or each day. By icyotsuba •. Japanese – ...

Flound'ring like a man in fire or lime. Update of Mini-Goal: Japanese Speaking. Reading- An Approach to Language Learning. I’ve recently joined a language group whose focus is to read ‘The Hunger Games’ in th. Benny Lewis – Reading. 2 Comparative Reading: Keep Two Books Side by Side. This strategy is more work than keep a dictionary to hand. Nonetheless, it is absolutely worth it. I call it comparative reading , It involves reading the original book and a translation at the same time. When reading books,...
