The shape of the water drops on the PE film is determined by a few layers of atoms at the surface. It is a region which is about 1 nm thick. Altering the chemistry in such a shallow layer can considerably improve the material's properties. Polyethylene film with water drops in three different zones. Semitechnical plasma reactor (Roth and Rau, Germany). Modular plasma chamber (IAP). Excimer lamp (Herhaeus Noblelight, Germany). Atmospheric Pressure DC Glow Discharge. UHV plasma chamber (product of CJT, Germany). Can be processed or up to 30 cm wide webs can be treated semi-continuousely. We can process webs at atmospheric pressure with an excimer lamp, with a glow discharge, and, possibly combined with both, in gas/ vapor/ liquid treatment station.
