Hoping they’ll fall heads up. I hold my breath in the shower. And pretend that I’m drowning with those pennies. Hoping to become the wish I want to come true. I pick at scabs. Because I don’t like the way they form. Hard and dark; they’re itching. To get pulled prematurely. And I like the sensation of new skin.
