Pondering Practitioner: Choose and .....?
http://ponderingpractitioner.blogspot.com/2010/06/choose-and.html
Diary of a London GP. Thursday, 24 June 2010. How I wish I could just write an old fashined referral letter. Posted by Pondering Practitioner. Thursday, June 24, 2010. Labels: choose and book. 25 June 2010 at 03:29. My GP surgery seems to have given up with Choose and Book and have gone back to making referrals in the old fashioned way. It works; I am getting appointments within a couple of weeks and everything seems to be just like the good old days. 14 July 2010 at 10:13. View my complete profile.
Pondering Practitioner: February 2010
http://ponderingpractitioner.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Diary of a London GP. Thursday, 25 February 2010. What's wrong with the British? Last night I watched the BBC's 'The Day the Immigrants Left'. If you didn't see it, I fully recommend a trip to the BBC iplayer. Making the unmissable, unmissable. And an hour of your time to reflect on the current state of the British population. The words; slovenly, chippy, ignorant and ill-tempered come to mind. What have we become? Posted by Pondering Practitioner. Thursday, February 25, 2010. Links to this post. Results...
Pondering Practitioner: April 2010
http://ponderingpractitioner.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Diary of a London GP. Friday, 30 April 2010. A question of size. It's a question that I've often pondered. How much is the obese person to blame for their size? Perhaps instead it could be the fault of their parents, their school or their genes? Clearly the chocolate munching, burger swallowing type is out there, but I also regularly see exasperated patients who, despite a healthy sounding diet, just keep putting on weight. Are they lying to me ( "I eat nothing but chicken and salad doctor, I swear".
Pondering Practitioner: Back to work
http://ponderingpractitioner.blogspot.com/2010/09/back-to-work.html
Diary of a London GP. Thursday, 2 September 2010. Returning from a blissful holiday in the sun, it seems it's not only me who's finding it hard to get back to work. Aged 38, Penelope is single and very much alone. Her family are all abroad and she finds it hard to make close friends. She's been seeing me on and off for a few months now, presenting initially with symptoms of depression and on further occasions to request medical certificates (sick notes). Posted by Pondering Practitioner. Her psychologist...
Pondering Practitioner: Abdominal anxieties
http://ponderingpractitioner.blogspot.com/2010/09/abdominal-anxieties.html
Diary of a London GP. Thursday, 23 September 2010. A 22 year old woman came to see me with abdominal pain. The symptoms were vague and mild, but she was anxious and unhappy. She seemed slightly awkward, not quite knowing where to look and desperately wanting me to take her seriously. Right - so where on earth had this come from? Posted by Pondering Practitioner. Thursday, September 23, 2010. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I'm a young, recently qualified GP and find myself continually fascinated (and...

The Edge of the Bell Curve: January 2013
http://theedgeofthebellcurve.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
The Edge of the Bell Curve. Friday, 11 January 2013. What I've learnt about France by spending 3 days there. French law states that your property must go to your children when you die, although your spouse may live in it for the rest of his/her life. You can't override this, no matter how much you hate your kids. Despite this, French people do not usually write wills. When someone dies, two policemen must seal the coffin with wax. They use a blowtorch to do this. French bulldogs have bunny ears. Tulle ha...

The Edge of the Bell Curve. Wednesday, 27 February 2013. Week of Art: Wednesday 27th February - Art Therapy. Today in art therapy I worked on this black and white self potrait. It's still not finished. Tuesday, 26 February 2013. Week of art: Tuesday 26th Feb - Doodles and my planned tattoo. I didn't get much time for proper drawing today. I did get very angry with my laptop crashing, and so drew a cartoon self about to smash it with a hammer. Week of art: Monday 25th Feb - Life Drawing. Week of art: Mond...

The Edge of the Bell Curve. Saturday, 19 November 2016. From 6th October, in response to Rudd's controversial speech at the Conservative Party Conference. The Edge of the Bell Curve: Rape Culture - Part 1
http://theedgeofthebellcurve.blogspot.com/2013/08/rape-culture-part-1.html
The Edge of the Bell Curve. Monday, 12 August 2013. Rape Culture - Part 1. I realise that outside of feminist circles, the idea of 'rape culture' is quite controversial. It's the idea that there are parts of our culture that can be seen to promote or accept rape. Some people say anything that 'objectifies' women can be seen as rape culture, but I'm not so sure on that one. What I'm going to talk about mainly is culture that dismisses or trivialises rape. Tell me more, tell me more! Did she put up a fight?

The Edge of the Bell Curve: May 2013
http://theedgeofthebellcurve.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
The Edge of the Bell Curve. Friday, 10 May 2013. Unwanted 10kg buoyancy aid. So, how did I get fat? I've never had a healthy diet. And this year has involved a lot of ice and snow and pain that has prevented me from exercising. In addition, I've been taking Paroxetine, which seems to co-incide with the weight gain. It's a medicine for turning panic attacks into flab. I never thought about the cost of buying new, larger clothes as a problem with getting fat. No one warned me about this! I’m not sure...

The Edge of the Bell Curve: World Hijab Day
http://theedgeofthebellcurve.blogspot.com/2014/02/world-hijab-day.html
The Edge of the Bell Curve. Sunday, 2 February 2014. I nearly didn't write this blog. But I logged on to Twitter this morning and read the following:. The test of whether Hijab is a 'feminist statement' is not that some women choose to wear it but what happens to women who don't. I want to make something clear: I don't agree with the ideas of modesty or the idea of 'protection' that the hijab often stands for. As a feminist, I was recently entertained by this Facebook page. I decided to keep the scarf on...

The Pondering Preacher | A collection of musings from a curious cleric
A collection of musings from a curious cleric. Who is the Pondering Preacher? Empty Pews and Open Ears. August 23, 2017. It’s something I have done since my first ministry. On Fridays I walk through the empty sanctuary, sit in each pew, and pray. I pray for the people who will sit there, whoever they may be. I pray that something happens to touch their hearts, strengthen their faith, or encourage them to live radically for …. August 17, 2017. September 20, 2014. A Letter to Atheists. November 7, 2017.

Pondering Principles
Reflections on God…Man…Life. A Society with No Sense of Sin & Guilt? Posted by Dr Snyder on April 14th, 2018. What’s perhaps the biggest deception in our day that keeps people from getting their lives right with God? I want to draw from three C. S. Lewis writings to offer one possibility—a possibility that I think is far closer to a probability. In Lewis’s classic. The path to establishing a relationship with God is clearly laid out:. When you are sick, you will listen to the doctor. Ie, the God-fearing ...
