Tuesday, 9 July 2013. Isle of Bute and the West Island Way. Two weeks off and we are getting hit with a heatwave like never before. In an effort to not waste my days doing nothing (for nothing read drinking cider in the sunshine), I decided to get outside. The plan for day one was to get the train to Wemyss Bay. And then get the ferry over to The Isle of Bute. Just shy of the 35 minutes sailing time and Rothesay. Rothesay is in the unique situation in that it is a town that has the remains of it's castle.

Monday, 4 June 2012. The bank holiday weekend was fast approaching and a plan was hatched. My brother and his fiance were both off so it was arranged we would finally tackle a hill together. Ben Lomond. Was the intended target on the Monday of the long weekend. Nothing could go wrong in the run up. Or could it. Wednesday, 25 May 2011. Breathtaking scenery. Tropical weather. Different cultures. Copious amounts of food and drink. Everything you could ask for from a break away. But when you stay in Scotland, the tropical weather is more reminiscent of a tropical rainstorm opposed to blistering blue skies. And this was no different. Welcome to Fort William at the end of May. Even more surprisingly, the 09:07 Fort William train was on time and it was time for Dad to experience the sights of the West Highland Line.
