Penhallow Street: Isles of Shoals
http://penhallowstreet.blogspot.com/2015/07/isles-of-shoals.html
Friday, July 17, 2015. For our 40th anniversary, my daughter gave us a trip to the Isles of Shoals- it had been years since I last visited the Shoals. For many summers throughout my childhood, our family would make a day-trip to the Shoals- one outing was via a boat my father built, but that's a whole 'nother story. When our children were growing up, we took them on the ship. When we left the mouth of the Piscataqua River. It was being that child all over again- especially seeing Fort Point Light. Photos...

Penhallow Street: April 2015
http://penhallowstreet.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 21, 2015. This little golden-haired lass is a present for our granddaughter. I guess she has a habit of making away with her sisters' dolls while she awaits one of her own. With Waldorf dolls there's an intentional lack of features which children's imaginations are left to fill in. I'll miss her sitting on the couch watching me as I work on her dress, which probably leaves even her to wonder "How long does it take? Posted by Penhallow Street. Friday, April 10, 2015. Penhallow Street: February 2015
http://penhallowstreet.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 28, 2015. Once a year, my parents would treat us to the ice cream smorgasbord at Putnam Pantry. Imagine being a child and having so many options: ice creams, sauces, and toppings . It was too much and yet my siblings and I yearned to try everything. Too many options for one so little. And even though I'm much, much older now, when there's some free time the "what to tackle" options are overwhelming- I'm 6 years old and right back at Putnam Pantry. Should I read? The start of another we...

Penhallow Street: September 2014
http://penhallowstreet.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 29, 2014. Feast of the Archangels. A small acrylic study of St. Michael the Archangel. Today is the Feast Day of the Archangels. St Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. Gotta' love the day when you know you're being watched over in a large way! Posted by Penhallow Street. Thursday, September 11, 2014. When we were visiting Quebec this past summer, we spent quite some time at Notre Dame. S museum- it was her 350th anniversary and we didn't want to miss one aspect of what she had to offer. ...

Penhallow Street: Fireworks
http://penhallowstreet.blogspot.com/2015/07/fireworks.html
Monday, July 6, 2015. A quick sketch of the fireworks as seen from Prescott Park. We were sandwiched between the Banke's Swing Dance. Music on one side of us, and Captain Hook's excellent vocal performance. On the other- it was pleasing, but unusual stereo. It was a still night- moderately warm and not even a hint of a sea breeze coming off the river. The flag stayed wrapped around the Liberty Pole. Posted by Penhallow Street. Lovely sketch and it sounds like it was a lovely evening!

Penhallow Street: January 2015
http://penhallowstreet.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 27, 2015. We've been out shoveling and snow-blowing for 2 hours, though we are only halfway through Juno. Blizzards were just blizzards when I was growing up, but they seem more impressive now they're formally named, or maybe the naming is to make them appear more personable :) . Thank goodness power is still with us- warm soup will be welcome after such a chilly work-out. Posted by Penhallow Street. Saturday, January 24, 2015. A view from my kitchen window. Penhallow Street: November 2014
http://penhallowstreet.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 14, 2014. I probably should paint, or embroider on a fabric a step up from muslin, but I do love its humble nature. I'll work a little on an edging of sorts for the Immaculate Heart and embellish the watercolor of Our Lady with some embroidery. Creating is an admixture of faith, fear, folly, and fate. Sometimes you think you're in control, and then you realize only to a point. You accept what comes and take joy in the results. Posted by Penhallow Street. Thursday, November 6, 2014. I am ...

Penhallow Street: "...make the world more beautiful."
http://penhallowstreet.blogspot.com/2015/06/make-world-more-beautiful.html
Saturday, June 13, 2015. Make the world more beautiful.". A short time later bulldozers plowed up the land and storage units were neighbor to the farmhouse, which became the business office. Fortunately the storage units didn't occupy the greater part of the field, but a muddy scar lay where lupine and other wild flowers once swayed. A book we read to our children when they were young was Miss Rumphius. Note: Illustration is from our copy of Barbarba Cooney's Miss Rumphius. Posted by Penhallow Street.

Penhallow Street: Work Progresses
http://penhallowstreet.blogspot.com/2015/05/work-progresses.html
Saturday, May 16, 2015. Work is ever so slow on this icon. My one love was working with the gold-type thread that has a mosaic. Like look to it. It's not real gold thread, but I'm pleased all the same. I'm thinking of incorporating some beads to outline the halos: red and white, or blue and white. Time will tell. I'm diffident about painting the background, so it might instead be embroidering crosses of various sizes and shapes. I'm inspired by images of the Hill of Crosses. Posted by Penhallow Street.
