Porch Walking

A place to share interesting porches and other architectural details I notice while walking. Sunday, April 27, 2014. 2 stories in the neighborhood. This house is very classy. They've built a roof deck over a section of the back recently. Or at least replaced the railing. I'll have to get a photo from a different angle. Reminds me of the house from a remodeling blog I read, Young House Love. Zillow says 2685 sf, built 1974. We notice evidence of kids in the backyard! Labels: 2 story house. Most of the hou...

Porch Walking: January 2013

http://www.porchpix.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

A place to share interesting porches and other architectural details I notice while walking. Thursday, January 31, 2013. This is one of my favorites in the 50's category, despite the lack of an actual porch roof. There's still a great sense of shelter from these trees. I love the curvy shapes of these live oaks. The red door is fabulous. (Can you tell I'm a sucker for a red door? The chairs give a sense of welcome. After all, what's a porch without a place to sit? Wednesday, January 30, 2013. I like the ...

A place to share interesting porches and other architectural details I notice while walking. Thursday, April 25, 2013. I did a little mile loop at a local walking track yesterday. I even jogged for 7 minutes. No porches. But I did see a cool car:. Today I did a 2.5 mile stroll. And took pictures of YELLOW houses. Please choose your favorite yellow. This one (#12) I previously photographed at night. It's got a cool square glass in the door. 33 pale sunshine yellow. Here's the back of the same house:.

Porch Walking: 2008 Georgia Porch

http://www.porchpix.blogspot.com/2013/04/2008-georgia-porch.html

A place to share interesting porches and other architectural details I notice while walking. Saturday, April 20, 2013. I ran 5 minutes 5 minutes today! Well, it was more of a 1/2 speed baby-stepping jog. But without the stroller, and slowing down to turtle pace I was able to last more than 3 minutes. I just did a little mini-loop at that nearby park. 1.65 miles. I took 1 photo on my trac-phone, but I can't get it onto my computer. So a porch from the archives:. Hancock Happenings: January 2015

http://pinestraw.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 31, 2015. In November I got anxious to take family photos. And we were missing Melissa, who did this for us last year. She had the audacity to move to Colorado. And we were saving our money for a Florida trip. And trying to use the portrait lens more. So we borrowed a tripod. Next time, I'm going to be smarter, and find a friend to come click that button, because I had to keep running back and forth. I did take some amusing behind the scenes photos though. This is the best one? I have a...

Hancock Happenings: September 2014

http://pinestraw.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Friday, September 5, 2014. The lens on my camera started going on the fritz while we were traveling in Arizona. Sometimes it would work, and sometimes the camera didn't know the lens was attached. So it worked about 1/2 the time. The instagram photo overload age, I suppose. It was our 15th anniversary the next day. After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we took Joseph to Erin's house and went to attend the Mesa Temple. It's always good to be in the temple. They had a checkered marble floor...I picked ...

Hancock Happenings: Thanksgiving

http://pinestraw.blogspot.com/2015/02/thanksgiving.html

Sunday, February 8, 2015. Thanksgiving is one of those times I miss family! We've had Thanksgiving with many different people over the years. We ate with the Gabbitas family for many years. (Sometimes with other families, or at the Institute building.) They even drove over from Athens for Thanksgiving after we'd moved here, which was when we built our table. The family we ate with 2 years ago has moved away to Colorado. Last year we had a very small Thanksgiving, as we were in the middle of demolition.

Hancock Happenings: October 2014

http://pinestraw.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Friday, October 31, 2014. I apparently took quite a few photos of Joseph during September. Making up for lost time with my new camera. Trying to capture the cuteness on film, since he's growing so fast! Sorry, there are so many. I bet Grandma will love every expression. I just don't have the energy to narrow it down. If you have a favorite, let me know in the comments. B fell asleep on the floor, unswaddled! C Bigger than the truck! P 2 feet toys. U up just for a moment! BB Hand and Knees! Sunday, Octobe...

Hancock Happenings: seek the shining moments

http://pinestraw.blogspot.com/2014/05/seek-shining-moments.html

Wednesday, May 14, 2014. Seek the shining moments. Joseph is 10 days old now! I still haven't finished sorting through all the photos! He was 8#12oz, 21". I posted on Facebook asking how people enjoy and cherish the newborn stage? The sheer exhaustion of 8 feedings per day at 45 minutes each- without solid blocks of sleep makes me feel like I'm missing out on something fleeting and precious. So, how to enjoy and cherish the newborn stage? Here's what my facebook friends said:. They are so soft! Letting t...

Hancock Happenings: more Joseph pix

http://pinestraw.blogspot.com/2014/05/more-joseph-pix.html

Friday, May 16, 2014. My friend took some photos when he was 6 days old. Here are the 3 that've been photoshopped so far:. We found this idea on pinterest. we adapted it for Harry Potter glasses and books. Now back to my snapshots from day 2-3:. I think Charlie and Joseph's noses look similar in this photo. We'd been promising Lily that we'd feed the ducks:. Lily listening to the TV! Who does he look like? The kids made a birthday cake for him! May 16, 2014 at 6:05 PM. Looks a lot like Charlie to me.

Hancock Happenings: May 2015

http://pinestraw.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 22, 2015. I don't have a smartphone, but my wifi tablet does instagram. So I can post photos somewhat instantly. As instantly as I get in wi-fi range! Perhaps instagramming has cleared my blogging block, and I'll start blogging small posts, rather than being overwhelmed about the hundreds of photos from our Florida trip in December! But the main reason I've fallen off the blogging bandwagon is this little cute guy:. Remember how sweet and perfect he was? I don't have *me* time for blogging du...
