Tuesday, January 14, 2014. The oldest Caribbean rodents. An account of fossil rodents from Puerto Rico. Had body masses similar to those of the American black bear (Biknevicious et al., 1993)! This picture is from last week, when I revisited the Lares limestone site where i found the rodent incisor. The new fossils from Puerto Rico consist of a couple of isolated incisors, one from the early Oligocene San Sebastian Formation ( from this locality.
