JOEY SURIEL | 2007 » 48 BLOCKS | ARCHIVE
http://portfolio.48blocks.com/joey-suriel
90’s LA was an interesting time in skateboarding. Plagued by gang violence, the city was a war zone and the skaters that dwelled there were a reflection of that. Joey Suriel was a central figure during that era and he definitely has an interesting story to tell. Keir Johnson comes through again with another epic interview with a true OG. How did skateboarding find you? Can you remember your first board? What was your area like? Were there a lot of spots around then? Who was your original skate crew?
CHRIS PASTRAS | 2007 » 48 BLOCKS | ARCHIVE

48 Blocks got to steal a bit of Chris Pastras’ time right before the doors were opened for what ended up being an amazing 15 year celebration of Stereo. We talked about the past, present, and future of the Sound Agency. Here’s what Dune had to say about where he’s been and where he’s going…. What’s been going on with Stereo since you guys went independent? You’re in charge of the art direction at Stereo, what artists are you currently working with? What other projects do you have going on besides Stereo?
NATE KEEGAN | 2007 » 48 BLOCKS | ARCHIVE

You’re from Northbridge, MA which is near Boston. What was it like growing up around the Boston skate scene? Who did you come up skating with and who were the people that you looked up to when you were younger? What’s going on with RAW? Talk about how that came together and what the future plans are with that company. Who else do you ride for besides RAW? You had the final part in City People 2, how did that project come together? Do you travel very much, where have you skated other than the Boston Area?
ROB WELSH | 2007 » 48 BLOCKS | ARCHIVE

It was about 4:00 PM on a Monday afternoon when I made my routine call to FTC to see what was going on with Ando. “I just hooked up a Rob Welsh interview,” he tells me. Stoked. I hadn’t seen Rob in about two years and there was definitely a lot to catch up on. I called him up, we met at the bar, and the rest is history. What’s an average day like for you these days? What were the factors in your decision to move from SF to AZ? How’s filming for the Lakai video going? What have you been skating lately?
PETER SMOLIK | 2007 » 48 BLOCKS | ARCHIVE

Peter Smolik has been on the low for a minute, now he’s back doing his thing in a big way. He’s set to drop a new part in Transworld’s next video and Skate Mafia just picked up a major distribution deal. 48 Blocks caught up with Peter recently and got the low-down on everything Old Dirty Smolik has cooking up. Let’s rewind to Shorty’s and Osiris. What happened with those companies and what did you do after that? Exactly how and when did Skate Mafia start, where did the idea originate? Oh Muska, fuck I go...
