Still Motion - Hand. The current financial system is a socio-technical system, where human and algorithmic actors exist in a complex environment and make decisions that influence each other. Although algorithms are programmed by humans, often called ‘quants,’ their processing speeds are impossible for humans to perceive. This video playfully demonstrates the procedure of high frequency trading algorithms at a human pace, to highlight the absurdity of humans acting out these algorithms. Still Motion - Hand.

With the use of cameras, computer vision algorithms, and 3d printing, this sculpture creates solid representations of the body's motion over time, rendering a fleeting gesture as a physical object.
