Cannon Beach Birder: Baltimore Oriole

Current camera: Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ300, which has a quick auto-focus time, short time between shots, and an excellent view finder that allows you to find the bird very quickly and easily when you aim the camera. But best of all are the consistently sharp pictures, thanks to a Leica lens that is F2.8 throughout the entire zoom, which means that it lets in a lot of light even when zoomed. Writing about the human heart in conflict. Essays in Response to David Oates. Posts Tagged ‘art’. Fixing the Un-relatable Character. Posted by Carol Frischmann on December 6, 2010 No Comments. My friend, the palliative care doctor, took me to a production of This is Cancer. When I heard the name of the production, I had to be bribed; after all, who wants to hear about cancer? Next time I hear that a reader can’t identify with one of my characters, I know what to do give ‘em the Horak treatment. If Ho...

Cannon Beach Birder: Tufted Puffin
http://cannonbeachbirder.blogspot.com/2015/07/tufted-puffin.html
Friday, July 31, 2015. Low tides are a great time to see Tufted Puffins on Haystack Rock. They tend to be high up on the rock, in the grassy area on the N side, but today there were also some on the NE side. A group of 8 was visible at the same time in one spot, and many were flying around the rock and back and forth out over the ocean. This photo was taken from the same spot as the first photo, but with the camera un-zoomed. Another example of why I like the super-zoom camera so much.

Cannon Beach Birder: Haystack Rock at low tide
http://cannonbeachbirder.blogspot.com/2015/07/haystack-rock-at-low-tide.html
Sunday, July 19, 2015. Haystack Rock at low tide. Tufted Puffins nest in burrows in the grassy area high on the north side of Haystack Rock. It's easier to see them when there's a very low tide and you can walk right up to the base of the rock. Haystack Rock, at one of the lowest tides of the year 7/3/15. Cannon Beach Birder: Chapman Point at low tide
http://cannonbeachbirder.blogspot.com/2015/07/chapman-point-at-low-tide.html
Sunday, July 19, 2015. Chapman Point at low tide. Common Murres, nesting on rocks off Chapman Point. Brandt's Comorants, nesting on the NW side of the first rock off Chapman Point. This location is usually well hidden from people, except at a very low tide like this one on July 4th, 2015. It's not very often that the tide is low enough that you can walk around the rocks at Chapman Point, from Cannon Beach to Crescent Beach. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Cannon Beach Birder: Green Heron
http://cannonbeachbirder.blogspot.com/2015/07/green-heron.html
Friday, July 31, 2015. I was on my way to look for the Green Heron I've been seeing in the wetlands near the SE Cannon Beach settling pond, but this time it was standing out in the open between the NE and NW ponds.
