The nuts and bolts of our safety plan:. To ensure that entrants are capable of completing the swim safely, a qualifying swim will be required upon entry. Swimmers must show that they have completed a 5000 yd pool swim within 1 hour, 45 minutes. (Time must be verified by a counter but it does not have to be an organized swim.) I can reach higher and deeper into the bushes so I collect the ripest, fattest berries from overhead and out of his reach while he works at my knee level. Warm late evening sun touched our skin and I felt relaxed. I felt love. Each of us bathed in a sort of calm. I plucked three more berries, ate one, and gave him the remaining pair.

Leslie has been swimming her whole life and finds great peace and joy being in the water. In 1997 she was introduced to open water swimming on Long Island, and from the first swim she was hooked! Since then she has swum various distances in open water all over the world. In 2012 she swam the beautiful Portland Bridge swim.
