Most typical flights begin with a welcome party at the Shilo Inn (on Airport Way) in Portland on Wednesday night prior to leaving on Thursday morning. We leave VERY early on Thursday morning, and typically arrive in Washington D.C. at about 3-4pm. Upon arrival, we load on a chartered bus which will take us to our hotel in Washington D.C. What are the criteria for WWII veterans traveling on Honor Flight trips? Live within our service area. Have served in uniform anywhere between Dec. 7, 1941 and December 31, 1946. Not have visited their national WWII Memorial in Washington in the past. Be physically able to travel. Submit an application to us. Applications can be downloaded from our web sites or requested by phone or email. How do you decide which veterans travel? What areas of Oregon do you serve? Can spouses travel with WWII Veterans?
